Origin

On July 24th, 2025, YouTuber^[1] rupertgamingboy uploaded a video titled "RupertGamingBoy Funny Neck Hurt Moments" where he compiles several clips of him spamming an audio at Roblox players that repeatedly says the N-word, garnering over 26,000 views in two weeks. This is the earliest available video of the meme. Other examples may have previously been available on his TikTok^[2] page, but that has since been deleted and relaunched under the username @rupertgamingboyy.

Spread

The spam trolling of the "neck hurt" audio soon became a trend on TikTok in late July and early August 2025 as RupertGamingBoy continued to popularize it. For the prank, Roblox players tend to make characters with identical avatars and similar names to RupertGamingBoy.

For example, on July 26th, 2025, TikToker^[3] @doesyoneckhurt posted a video of several RupertGamingBoy copycats spamming the audio, garnering over 1.1 million views in 12 days.

On August 3rd, TikToker^[4] @skippelr posted a video where he approaches Roblox players, telling them he has a gift inside a ball. When the players touch the ball, the "neck hurt" audio plays. The video gained over 3.7 million views in four days.

On August 4th, 2025, TikToker^[5] @rev_olv3r posted a video that begins as if it's about to criticize RupertGamingBoy, then cuts to footage of the "neck hurt" trolling, garnering over 1.3 million views in three days.
