Most certainly. And thanks for the help on it. It seems that people are answering properly (with a couple of problems on my part that I've fixed,) so I think it can spread its wings a little bit now.

But I wonder how I can get the word out of KYM without it being spam. I only post on Ponibooru (which isn't conducive to surveys unless you post an image and link it to the survey, but I don't like that approach.) I feel like it would seem spammy anywhere else (besides EqD, if they'll take it.)

Yeah, thanks. But the results won't mean much without more respondents. There are so many options, so you'd just see everyone clicking the same answer or 1 answer per choice. But I will put together a spreadsheet in a couple of days or once I get a few more responses so you guys can see what we look like as a group.

I've taken the survey and I must say Verbose, it was quite thorough and well designed. Many times in surveys I'd be like "ehh…my true thoughts are somewhere between these two choices" but in this survey all of my choices were clear cut so well done there.

Oh, I intend on letting you see the results, opspe. I can run basic analyses like t-tests and ANOVA, and a few other things if I went back to my notes, but I think you'll be able to make the most of it.

That's pretty much what I wanted to hear. The difference between this survey and others is the choices available. opspe, BSoD, Random, and others suggested stuff to cover a lot of opinions and I didn't want someone to quit the survey because they didn't want to answer some of the questions.

Hey guys? Remember when I asked people to find me those "What voice actors I would like in MLP" posts? I even put a bounty of a 15$ dollar Steam game to those who found all three posts for me since I lost them.

RandomMan found them (back on page 37 of this thread) and I gave him a steam game as promised. I only checked them now but I just found out….it's incomplete! There's a third post he did not get! HE STOLE MY MONEY!

But in all seriousness, there is a post and I remember it because I discussed a voice actress for DJ-PON3 in it. All I know is that it's somewhere in Pony General III. If someone finds it for me, he'll get a 15$ steam game too!

As for your second question, no. There is no dubbing going on. However there is a scene where Applejack talks without her lips moving.

One of those rare times where I actually notice the animation errors. I was not the only one too apparently as the YouTube comments were filled with people joking about AJ's ventriloquist skills

Yeaaaah…The two by themselves can make sense. But in the same survey, not so much. I'll have to figure out how to change that. Some people have given the show a chance and the community a chance, but they don't like either. I wanted to hear from those people as well.

There's the problem of getting people who don't know anything about the show and just hate bronies for the heck of it (I've gotten one obvious troll respondent, but from their entire response, I should be able to tell when people are just trying to mess with the results. Should.)

In any case, nuke, I'm changing that right now. Thanks for catching that inconsistency.

Humanized, you'd think that Luna would be pale compared to Celestia. What with only being active during the night, she'd basically have no tan. But she can be tan considering her midnight blue hair is so much darker than Celestia's barely pink hair.

I think it's awful that people say that. Luna and her mark are not a symbol of Middle Eastern culture. Just because 1 or 2 flags have the moon, doss not mean Luna is linked to them. I am appaled that people disgrace Luna and the middle east with such carelessness.

I'd say a Mod or Admin or someone diffuses the situation before it starts, I PM'd Chris (a well known respected mod) a note asking him to write something on the forever alone page to assure the others that it's legit (even though it wasn't), thankfully he saw the wisdom in my plan and complied, that was a bout 10 days ago or something.
Clearly that wasn't enough.

You know, if you could get a hold of Calpain, you could ask him to get your survey posted on EqD. Or you could just contact Sethisto directly with the information about a small scale Brony survey, and ask him to post it in a Nightly Roundup.

If you decide to contact Sethisto himself, you could also mention knowing Calpain beforehand through KYM. It's shameless self promotion, but it could easily get into a Nightly Roundup. It should be especially easy with your silver tongue. Heh.

I could also mention your survey on my dA journal, since I have well over 800 watchers at the moment. Unfortunately I don't know how many of those people are "subscribed" to my journals in addition to my drawings.

I'll just have to think about something else to write about in addition to mentioning your survey. So it might take a little while before I can do that.

This would affect to the brony/non-brony ratio though, and I also don't know if you want to keep the survey limited to KYM, so I won't write anything on dA without getting your consent first.

Nice approach, Connor. It doesn't matter who has the most views. If the Forever Alone entry legitimately has more views, then so be it. If there is something increasing the view count or a bunch of people devoted to refreshing a hundred times a day or something, then it still won't matter.

It's FiM. If the view count reset, it would still be FiM. The only reason why there would be a shitstorm is if we started one.

Well, EqD is most certainly the next step. I'm mostly just piloting with KYM, but I think the results are sound and the measurement tool is valid and reliable.

I had forgotten Calpain now works with Seth and his crew, so I may have to get in touch with him. I rarely see him on KYM now, but maybe he still looks at his account from time-to-time. And I could always just contact Sethisto or Calpain via email. Thanks for the tip, and enjoy your krama.
 
As for your dA, I'm actually hoping to get responses from bronies and non-bronies who know enough about the show and the fandom to answer questions honestly. Basically, anyone who's seen a few episodes and knows about bronies and their culture is within the target population. So your watchers would work well for that.

However, I won't ask you to post it to your profile just yet. I want to make sure I've gotten all of the kinks out before letting more people take it (e.g., an end quotation mark I left at the end of "Luna Eclipsed" in the episode questions.) I'll ask again later though, so I really appreciate your willingness to help.

I pulled this response from that thread. It could be said a little bit more eloquently, but the point still stands:

It's the internet, just brush it off bro. People are always going to be like that. It's just words.

• I think there are those that let what other people think of them play too much into how they feel about themselves.
  • Granted, you shouldn't be ignorant to what people say about you, but it shouldn't be the sole determinant in how you feel about yourself.
    • As such, there isn't much that other people can do to help him except to say not to worry so much about what others think. So that's why he's not getting much help. It's not a new problem for subcultures, and it's one that is fairly easily fixed: Don't post Pony where Pony isn't wanted. Don't go to sites and threads devoted to bronei hate.
  • On the other hand, I remember you having similar problems before, Jolly Jew. I don't see the hate, because I don't go where that kind of hate is rampant, and I don't post Pony where I know people are going to thrash it.
    • Simply, the Internet will be the Internet. It's not going to change anytime soon. If one decides to go against it, then they should expect the Internet to act like the Internet. The best thing that brony can do is to just stick to Pony sites, and leave the rest of the Internet alone for a while.

To sum, haters gonna hate. There are those who don't like the show or broneis who have a reasonable point. You have to disregard those who hate with no basis and not take criticism so harshly. That is what I'd tell that bronei.

As for the ball punching, I think that's a little overboard. If the girl cussed the guy out or threatened to call the cops, then that would be an appropriate response. If he touched her, that's when you grab the mace/grab-rip-rupture the guy.

Dude was being creepy. However, I think anyone that creepy doesn't realize he's being creepy. He's creepy, because he's lacking some social skills and really likes Pony, not only because he only wanted to get with this girl.

And I'd like to believe that most reasonable people know that all broneis aren't like this guy. So hopefully our reputation won't be ruined by the smallish percentage who don't pick up on things like that.
 
Personally, the most I would ask a woman my age is "Oh, do you like FiM?" and maybe "Who's your favorite pony?"

I would like to add to Verbose post, that posting borderline Rule 34 pics on the MLP image section doesn't really help with our image either…

Also, no it's not "hate" when most comments on the pics you download are "Delete this now." or " I'm calling the mods, this doesn't belong here." I'd call it more of a genuine concern.

Surely you must understand that everyone here on KYM want to make Ponies and us Bronies in general as presentable as possible.

If a normal internet user got curious about this whole "pony shenanigans" they wouldn't visit Paheal or 4chan or Ponychan. those are too underground/creepy. No they would visit KYM or other "normal" sites, and it's our duty to stem the misunderstanding of the Brony community. They can discover the kinks later on if they dig too deep, then you can't blame the Bronies, the viewer is the one that "dug too deep".

In short a request:

Please stop posting Rule 34/suggestive/questionable/borderline-R34 on the image gallery.

Here's the rules I follow: if the rating on Ponibooru is questionable, or if it contains excessive "french kissing", or if it contains heavy "shipping material" WITH NO MEMETIC VALUE WHATSOEVER. than don't post.
if it does contain redeemable memetic value, than post cautiously and non-excessively, IE. one pic of this kind a day.

I don't want to quote your entire post, but about the comic. If that really is based on a real life situation, I just have thing to say to that guy. Have some self respect whoever you are! I like MLP just as much as anyone, but those kind of bronies ruin it for me. The only thing that ever makes me go all out are soccer games, But no cartoon, movie, or video game will ever make me go all out. I know some people say things like, " oh, you are just worried about what people will think" Well, those people are absolutely right. Its one thing to be a fan of something, but to walk around with the dolls? Is it wrong for me to want to be treated well when I walk into a store? or not be stared at by everyone? If I'm going to draw attention to myself, I want it to be for something good( clothes, body, car, brains, etc.) But I won't go prancing like an idiot just to get attention. Do you really need to walk around with a pinkie plush? NO, so leave it at home you fucking jackass. jesus…

Hell, I would wear a subtle FiM shirt, or maybe carry around a small blind bag toy, but do you really need to carry around a target the size of Alaska? Jeez, I would show my support, but I wouldn't go as far as to carry around a stuffed doll. Yes, you can say you're a brony, and maybe a little dialouge, but carrying a stuffed Pinkie and saying stuff like that is going too far. Seriously, don't do that. Be subtle.
Also, look closely at what the boyfriend said. "Get your hooves off my girlfriend." He's probably a brony as well. That's probably why he recognized the significance of the term cutie mark and where it's located. Either that, or he really listens well to his GF. Hang on to that one, girl. He's a keeper.

First I'd like to congrat Verbose for the brony survey. It was very good, and I particulally liked the freedom it had. Though it can compromisse the results a little, I liked how every question stated you didn't have to answer if you wanted. I believe there are things somebroneis don't really like to talk about, and I appreciated it.

I agree with Pyro that if she was a human her skin would be pale-white duo to her nocturn habits. But I believe it would be interresting if Luna had taned skin instead of Celestia. That would mark even more the contrast between the two, and also kind of break this stereotype.

Reminded me of a similar rage comic (kudos for whoever finds it) where the guy sees a girl with a MLP shirt too and starts talking about the show, but the girls gets like "Hun? WTF are broneis? And what the hell are you talking about??", and the guy ends up with the poker face.
