@DeadParrot: Cause I'm an unoriginal bastard. Besides, I didn't get a lot of sleep last night. And when I don't get any sleep all my energy comes from Coca-Cola and I get freaking tired by the middle of the day. Sorry for stealing the comment. Here's a Scootaloo picture to repay you.

And here's an Applejack picture, because she gets no love.

So your apology picture subjugates Scootaloo to the role of a mere animal?!
This shall not stand!
Twilight, turn Zarathh into a shoe!

Now I have you!

(I don't really care that much. I just thought it was funny.)

Nah, jk. Love that gif, so amazing.
Still busy from E3. Also, you did not hear this from me, but Aliens: Colonial Marines is gonna be amazing! That multiplayer was awesome! Or, so I've heard…

EDIT: Whoever asked if Zynga is at E3. Yes they are.

@badsitrep

This will have to do for now. I'm rather unimpressed though. The text has changed, but it sorta just looks like a mod. The gameplay stays approximately the same, so it turns into Fire Emblem with a few pony sprites in the dialogue (not even in the fighting animation) instead of incorporating the show with the game. But you may like it.

@Iamslow

Don't know as much about this one, but you can give it a look.

Remember Rule 85, gents. If it exists, there is a pony of it. No exceptions.

Derp to the past!?

oh wow, I gotta play that some time.

Wow, two responses in a row consisting of 'F#%$!'
I think my work here is done!

@Iamslow
Also, Running of the Leaves.

And just for good measure:

Now, I go!

Gentlemen, I've been gone for a few days (weeks) due to circumstances (Skyrim). Are there any pressing matters besides the death of Eduard Khil that I should be aware of? I'm too lazy to go back and read all the forums from where I stopped reading last, especially this forum.

Alright. I'm going to plan ahead this time for the synchtube to see if more people can make it. How do you guys feel about a synchtube on Friday at 6:00 P.M CST? Or would you rather it be on Saturday at the same time?
Gif unrelated.

@Zarathh

Thanks for giving us a heads up. I know I'll be hanging out with a friend on the weekend, but I don't know which day. My guess would be Saturday or Sunday, so I think I'd prefer Friday. Time works fine for me.

@Fifths

Your song didn't make me cringe. That means it's probably good, because I tend to loathe fan-singing. I think I liked the fact that it wasn't dressed up in a bunch of unnecessary instrumentation or frills in the singing. Suits the blues genre. I tend to think of a slower tempo, but I didn't think it was bad at all. I think you probably have more raw talent than other artists who have better recording equipment and software.

Also, I thought about it before, but does your username have anything to do with music? The first thing that came to my mind (with the Vinyl Scratch avatar) would be the interval of a fifth. That's the only place I can remember hearing "fifths" at all.

Wow, that was pretty damn good! Nice to see something different from the usual crappy 'dubstep' songs the community usually churns out, where all they do is regurgitate the same generic dubstep sound but add a pony sample. Send it to EqD! Send it with a vengeance!

Dubstep pmvs probably makes up 0.71% (this is a rough estimate from the YouTube search results) of the pmvs/pony related music on YouTube, sure there maybe electronica/techno pmvs but these genres should not be confused with dubstep. I am not stating that dubstep is good, I am just stating the fact that the amount of dubstep pmvs/pony related music do not represent the majority of community generated content.

@Fifths
Congratulations on your pmv, it is great for your first one. I hope to see more from you in the future.

Still this is pretty damn good. I mean it has gotta be one of the best songs i've heard about the fandom.

So how much of the content is electronica?

You know…stuff where you press buttons and twist knobs to make the music? 95%? 99%?

No offense to electronica. I love video game music and chiptunes, but I find that fan music often relies so heavily on the technology to make something that sounds good, that they seem to forget about the actual composition of the music.

Instrumentation can change a lot about the music, but it never changes enough for me to overlook a lack of talent or creativity. I find that much fan music sounds generic to me. Fifths didn't seem that way.

I sense a good talent coming from you.I suggest you to submit your work to EQD. It might attract more viewer to your video if it get featured.

Otherwise.
Keep making those kind of song.You might be well known among the brony community eventually.

I have been wanting to review the MLP:FIM series for a couple days now, but I was swamped with work. Finally I have time so here we go. I would like the you guys to also review the show so we can see what we all think of the show.
I will review the show based on these catogories: Animation, music, characters, and writing. I will make comparisons to other shows( and mabye a few movies) but to be fair, I will only compare it to kids entertainment because, let's be honest, it can't compare to dexter or saving private ryan.

Animation: it's excellent, relatively speaking. What I mean is that for a show that uses flash animation, they put a lot of character and emotion into it. The characters are adorable and full of life. The environments are very nicely done as well. I'd say it up there with the new looney tunes show when it comes to using flash animation. Now, I've given it a lot of praise, but I will now talk about its shortcomings. Its simplistic really, Almost every character has the same body, It's not mindblowing by any means, Too many clones, and just all around average. It lacks the gorgeous visuals and stunning animation of shows like the Avatar series, especially legend of Korra. As long as we have cartoons like that, MLP can't be really be called mind blowing in this department( forgive me, but I will bring up this show a lot because they both are Saturday morning cartoons with large adult audiences)
Music: this has been one thing that has seemed to get the most praise in the series with people comparing it to Disney movies from the 90's and just saying it awesome. Well, what I'm about to say is downright blasphemous, it's ok, nothing more. I will agree that it has some of the best music for a Saturday morning cartoon, but It's at the same level of phineas and ferb in my opinion. To compare it to the classics of Disney is ludicrous. It doesn't have the budget, time, or man power to compare to song like " Be a man" from Mulan or the various songs that everyone knows the words to. The best music I can think of in a Saturday morning cartoon right now is legend of korra. The background music is exciting, adds to the mood, and adds to the culture. It really is something. Again, MLP has really good music, but again, relatively speaking.
Characters: This, for me, Is without a doubt the series strongest part. They did a great job of making characters that really are fun to watch. They are full of personality and emotions. They really do make the show something special. I could complain about a few things I guess, but really it's more about the stories in some episodes not really working for the characters or just being sloppy. But the way the characters interact with each other is almost unparalleled in cartoons today. I won't say it's the best, but it's close.
writing: Hmm, where do I start… I guess I'll start by saying that while I think this is the worst part of the series and what really keeps it from being a great show that any adult can watch without having to have a fandom to back it up( Korra :3), it isn't bad. I understand why it's like that and enjoy it for what it is, a kids show, but I can't lie and say its spectacular. Problems are solved way to easy, world building isn't great, characters learn something very important and vow to change( again, way to easy) only to do the same shit the next episode. We have had a couple villains ranging from lame( nightmare moon) to pretty cool( discord), but no matter how good they were, the fact they where taken care of so easily and a predictably, you can't call them great. The problem is that no matter how much bronies try to deny it, it's really a show for little girls. The stories can't be too complex, the villains have to be relatively harmless( easily beaten I mean) and the lessons need to be clear. Nothing can be vague, bad and good must be black and white with little gray area( if any). Does that mean we can't enjoy it? No, of course not, but it's not for everyone and is really just good because of the fandom. A cartoon that is everything that some bronies claim it to be is Korra. That show has a story that rivals any show for adults, excellent animation, great world building, villians that are downright sinister and comparble to any villian i disney… Hell any villian really, and everything else really. With cartoons like that, I can't say MLP Is the best cartoon, let alone the best TV show. It's just average. Without the fandom, It's really a show for little kids that parents can enjoy too, nothing more

To sum it up, MLP is a fine show, nothing great, but with an excellent fandom that really sets it apart. I goes as far to say that the fact that the show is just average is not really disputable, it is what it is, but it started a pretty neat culture and that is enough for it to something quite special
Edit: shit! I've never had a wall of text like this!

@Everyone who commented on music

You guys are great, thanks for all the feedback. It can be a big pain in the ass to record music (that relatively short piece took me most of today to finish) but getting such a great reception makes me want to make even more music for you guys.

@Verbose

Yup, you guessed it. My most practiced instrument is the violin, and the violin is tuned in fifths. When tuning, they tell you to listen for "The harmony of the fifths" which I always thought sounded cool.

Remember remember the 27th of September

Why when Fall is in season
That Cloud Dancer must dance in our laps

@Windigo

Princess Celestia/Molestia gives me a hoofjob.

I'm unsure how to feel about this. Explosives would be jelly though.

Edit: I'm actually terrified.

@Dac

You pretty much nailed it with the writing and music parts. I would argue that "This Day Aria" is pretty dang good, but even then it's length shows it's miniscule amounts of manpower. The average Disney song is about three minutes long, while This Day Aria (which is probably one of, if not, the longest song on the show) is about two minutes. And while "Smile" was good, it just doesn't compare to "Circle of Life" for me.

And then with the writing, yeah it's cliched. You already went well into detail about this, so I don't have much to say.

@Fifths

I generally dislike brony music, since it just creeps me out. But that was actually fairly good. It wasn't "extreme" like I consider so much other brony music to be.

Recently, I read an article about F/F shipping that was posted on Eq D a while back. Being written by a non-brony, I was expecting an incredibly biased and inaccurate rant, but it was actually pretty well written.

It also briefly went into the double standard against M/M shipping. I was a bit disappointed it never theorized as to why all this is, and the fact it never mentioned the 20:1 female-male ratio, but one thing that really surprised me was this:

(right click and "view image" for bigger image)

According to this, 39% (the author did a small survey) of respondents deliberately avoid straight shipping, which seems like a large number to me. I figured that the large F/F shipping was just dealing with the large aforementioned ratio, and that the fandom would take advantage of any straight ship it could get it's hands on. Even if that meant watering down the only male characters in the show.

Thoughts? Bear in mind that there were only about 74 respondents (59 of which were male), so this could just be a coincidence.

At this point, I shouldn't have to mention I'm not opposed to homosexuality. But, given how this thread can be occasionally, I'll say it again: I'm not opposed to homosexuality.
