Ew, .mov.
Want a real pony parody series? Go watch Friendship is Witchcraft. The writing is win on so many levels, and the songs they do rival the ones in the show. It might not be parody, per se, but they do a good job at rewriting the characters, while keeping their personalities intact. For example, Sweetie Belle is a robot, Pinkie Pie is an orphan, etc. I'm no go at explaining, just watch it.
This is like my favorite song ever.

Fellow KYM members, I have unravelled the mysteries behind the existences of the Cake twins!
Mrs. Cake cheated on Mr. Cake with an alicorn! And since the twins are HALF alicorn, they each only have half of the features, Pound getting the wings, and Pumpkin getting the horn. At the same time, their magical/ flight prowess can be attributed to their super powerful father, whoever he is.
Could it be that Luna and Celestia have a younger brother/other male relatives? It is entirely possible and canon for alicorns to mate with normal ponies after, all. Point in case-Prince Blueblood, who, although it very distantly related to them on their mother's side, he still is a direct descendant from them.
Also, evolution is in play here! Or rather, a form of devolution. All ponies are in fact within the same genus, and descended from a common ancestor. However, over the course of many millenia of mutations (it works a lot faster in ponies) and inbreeding (well), four distinct lineages developed. Alicorns are like the Altmer of Equestria, retaining the greatest amount similarities to the ancient pony species, and thus being able to control the world.
No, I'm not majoring in biology, thank you very much.
I will be going to sleep now!

@twins: I saw a bit of one episode and it was pretty good. I like the while robot concept.
Damn Tara, I don't know how far have you ventured in the dephts of our fandom, but that's an awesome well played for you.

To think ponies don't normally wear clothes.
To be fair, Tara does voice Princess Clara and Toot in the very obscene and adult show Drawn Together. So out of character? Perhaps not.
@idelogical
Go watch the entire bloody series. It's that good. I'm actually more anxious for the next episode of this than the actual show. And no, I still haven't caught up. The Last Roundup was pretty great, but then I had other things to do.
@twins
Personally I like "MLP: The Mentally Advanced Series" better. Sure "Witchcraft" is more impressive what with the custom BG music and songs, but the voice acting isn't that great, the writer's got some weird obsession with "Hunchback of Notre Dame", and I just don't find it that funny.
"The Mentally Advanced Series" feels a lot like Red vs Blue (one of the best internet series' ever IMO) in terms of comedy, and that whole "one guy doing all the voices without even trying to sound like the characters" thing is just like Yu-Gi-Oh Abridged and has an endearing quality to it.
Wow, I can just rail about anything can't I? I can't remember the last comment I made that wasn't me expressing my opinions.
But, congrats on having understanding friends. They wouldn't really be friends if they didn't understand you and disliked you for just liking something unusual.
So I'm happy it turned out well for you in the end.
I almost wanted to cry the next day when I woke up( half because of the major hangover, but mostly because I just admitted to playing with my little pony toys and shit). My friend is also a macho man that hates anything frilly, let alone this. Today I was talking to him saying what an ass I made of myself, but he told me that its not an issue that I like that and he would never tell anyone else unless I said It was Ok. I really lucked out with a friend like that, fuck man. Has anyone else here been in the same situation? and how did it turn out?

Not really. I came right out and told my two closest friends about it in a long-winded message. One guy already knew of the phenomenon, so he wasn't too surprised. The other friend doesn't really get it, I don't think, but both are cool enough with it. I knew they would be. We've been through a lot of stuff together.
I've also spammed a friend's wall with Pony, so our mutual friends on Facebook either thought I was messing with him or that I was a Brony. However, most of my friends don't know the Internet like my closer friends do, so they were either really weirded out or just thought I was goofing off.
Some of the intermediate friends noticed and have mentioned it, but they talk to me like they normally do.
I haven't come across any friend my age who's openly said anything about it, because I really haven't changed otherwise. But I'm not telling my family. They know I'm odd and I'm a geek, but that extends to video games and a weird taste in music. Not to My Little Pony.
Also, I don't drink.
Dac wrote:

I have mentioned the ponies to some of my friends, both while intox and not. I didn't come out and say I'm a brony, but I may have intimated it. I mostly did it to gauge their reactions, and they were more or less what I expected: a bit of ridicule, but nothing big; we'd still be friends. And it sounds like that's what happened with you, which is good.
And reading Verbose's post reminded me, I have had similar discussions with my mother. I know my parents wouldn't care, but it's not something I'd like to tell them.

Great, another fan made series for me to start watching before I even catch up to the real show.
Without any knowledge on whatever the advanced series is, I shall refute your points:
impressive what [sic] with the custom BG music and songs- this is one of those things that makes the show great. The creator made a video with the custom BG music, and he was surprised it reached over 10 minutes. And that doesn't include the songs.
but the voice acting isn’t that great- I agree partially. The voices don't sound like the main cast, I'll give you that, and it was a bit odd at first, but the main VA actually does pretty well in creating her own unique version of the characters. The pinkie pie voice isn't very close, but it works. Although some times the voices sound the same when she loses concentration.
Yu-Gi-Oh Abridged sometimes tries to hard to be funny, but LittleKuriboh knows this and even demeans himself for overreliance on internet memes. Also, his VA is amazing (what are you smoking?), sounding close to the real voice actors (meh Téa). He perhaps even rivals Seth MacFarlane and Tara Strong in sheer talent. The witchcraft girl has nowhere near as much range to do a YGOTAS, but at least she tries and does a decentish job.
writer’s got some weird obsession with “Hunchback of Notre Dame”-no comment, although I have noticed this. I think this is just their interpretation of Fluttershy (wait that was a comment).
I just don’t find it that funny-well, the comedy in here is more subtle than your standard throw a bunch of random jokes and references at the audience to make them laugh, not to say that strategy doesn't work. The wordplay and script is quite brilliant, and really makes you think about how much effort they put into it. Example: The Art of the Mattress song, which is really, really good. At the end of it, Applejack says "well, I don't care much for covers." The song is actually a cover of Art of the Dress from the real FiM show, which in turn is a cover of some other song irl that I don't feel like finding (the more correct term would be parody, but who cares). And the subject of the song? (Bed) covers.
That should just about meet my TL;DR quota for the week. If this was a communist society, I'd be contributing for each and every one of you, so be thankful that I have allowed you all to be graced by my eloquence.
Ya hear that connor the brony AKA berry punch? We're on to you.
Well, time to study for history. Night everypony.
And may I never use everypony again.
No I did not steal that from Verbose.
AND HOW MANY TIMES DO I HAVE TO SAY THIS, EVERYBODY/ANYBODY IS CANON!
-
Speaking of Verbose, I was pretty much in the exact same position. IRL friends don't care about ponies at all despite me occasionally spamming their pages with them, not telling my family unless they ask, because they know I'm odd (maybe more than that), etc. I don't really drink either, but when I do, when I do…
We're like brothers-ONLY CLOSER!
Oh, I'm considering shedding the term brony as well. I really don't seem to be interested with the show that much, more of the characters and all. And despite that, I don't really follow fanon either (Octavia=Pinkie Pie's sister is canon!). I occupy some imaginary/complex region in the brony fanon/canon continuum, and thus, I have no idea what I am.
If I fail my history test I'm blaming all of you.

@ Verbose and Phoenix
I wish I could say I will never drink again after that night, but Id be lying. Hell, I said I was only gonna have 2 beers which turned into 10 (which put my BAC at around 0.247).
Man, I missed the Fighting is Magic live stream because of my class. Oh well, hopefully they upload it soon.

I can go forever without drinking, which I usually do. I go months without it at times. My only problem is when Im drinking, I just don't stop. I'm not an alcoholic by any means.
About late night debate, its already 1:25. Im gonna pass on that i think

It's 3:30a here. I don't have obligations tomorrow, but it's way too late for me to be up. However, I've messed up my sleep schedule and can't be bothered to set it straight. If you start a topic, I can respond about 10ish hours from now though.

Eh, I guess late night debate club can last into the following day:
We've always known what Unicorns and Pegasi can do, Magic and Weather Manipulation respectively, but Earth Ponies have always been a little vague. Word of Faust claims:
Earth Ponies do have a connection to the land that other types do not
Just what the buck does that mean? That they're good at farming?
Then I thought about it a bit and went back to the episode, Family Appreciation Day and Granny Smith's way of making Zap Apple Jam.
That Zap Apples like Pink Polka Dots
That you need to be nice to bees to get good honey for jam:
That Jars need talking to
And….uh….did she ever explain why singing to the water in bunny costumes was important?
ANYWAY, even at the end of the episode, Granny Smith says that this is strange but
Granny Smith said:
Magic is what magic does!
So the discussion topic for tonight is:
Can Earth pony's special skill be understanding this strange form of natural magic?
Looks like I am just in time
So, are we suggesting that an Earth Pony can handle some level of magic ability? Obviously they do not directly manipulate magic itself but that can use it through other means instead?
[edit]
Also just noticed that Verbose's survey is on EqD.
So Verbose, how is that going?

A friend of mine committed suicide and now I'm depressed, someone hit me with pony. Come on, it can help… was also a brony, but that has nothing to do with the cause of death.
So that means that when Pinkie was talking to Rocky and Madame LeFlour she wasn't really crazy. She also has her Pinkie senses that Twilight (since she's a unicorn) can't explain.
Has anyone else seen these? RandomMan should we make an entry for Youtube videos like this? Plus there are all the ones from "when I'm bored". Lots of YouTube PMV's out there. What do you guys think?

Thanks, I needed that. Pinkie's one of my favorites. I found out it had to do with "lover" problems. I just don't get why people kill themselves for such reasons. They have families that care about them, what they just don't care for them. Why? WHY!?

Love blinds people. I have seen many times. Fortunately I have never had any close friends die because of love.
More Pinkie 4 U
Love is blinding. It covers what's really happening in front of you.
Have a Pinkie

As for the topic of drinking. I don't drink midweek, I simply don't.
But when I'm out with friends, I don't mind drinking at all. We have fun and I know my limits. So when I notice I'm going too far, I stop or lower. It only went (really) wrong once, which was actually a good thing as I now know my borders. It's also fun to try out new drinks. Try 75% absinthe, it's strong stuff. But I usually just keep it with beer.
But fact still remains, when going out with friends, I don't often get home sober.

Watched the whole FiW series. It's bucking hilarious, especially Neigh, Soul Sister. Sweetiebot has so much strength inside her. Yes, I referenced a scene.

I'm very sorry to hear that man. Here…
Love is something that does not have it's own exact definition. What lies within 'Love' can only be solved through our very conscious, not literally, not scientifically but emotionally. But little to we know is that our behaviour can be controlled by emotions, voluntary or involuntary. Trigger subjects such as prejudice, bias, hatred etc, etc can pierce through our heart like a needle. We must keep a sense of perspective about what we have done. Unaware of our doings leads to unimaginable consequences, for example, instead of attending to your father's birthday, you took off just to ponder your girlfriend for she had received an F in a test. They say love is blind because emotions can non-hesitantly alter your way of thought, commencing a debate of morality in your mind. Don't let that thought obstruct you in your life. Let your friend's death be your lesson to learn. Hey, who knows? Maybe it can save your life. Also, you probably shouldn't hold all the saddest within you. Let them all out and express in wide open. Nobody will ever judge your mourning(unless they really are douchebags.) Hope this helps. :)
This PMV kickarse!
Hey everyone. Just answering some topics.
@Telling to IRL friends bout ponies
That happened to me only once. I was in school with some friends and one of them likes mangas and animes, so we were talking about cartoons we were watching or used to watch. When I told them about My Little Pony, they simply started laughing and going "lol, u serious?".
Though that really rustled my jimmies, I should have know how internet oblivious they were.
@Drinking
I can't rememeber the last time I actually drank, but when I do it's usually at parties and with friends. One of my fears is to do things I would regret while drunk, so I always try to keep a straight face when so.
@Magic of earth ponies
I wouldn't say earth ponies can handle some sort of natural magic. As Faust said, they have a better understanding of the land than the other races, mainly as a result of the lack of magic to quickly make things happen and wings to fly (and also as the tradition of earth ponies being the ones to plant and feed all the races, as seen on HWE). So if they have some special connection to the nature, I believe it'd be in a more Pocahontas-y way than in mistical one, and this connection is what they use as an advantage when it comes to farming.
And about Granny Smith and the Zap Apples, we can see she and the Apple Family are the only ponies (in Equestria perhaps) to harvest them, so that knowledge of magic might be an exception from other earth ponies as the result of years of observation and understanding, as seen on the episode.
(Delayed response is delayed, I just got on, sue me.)
@What I am assuming the topic is
The number of people IRL that know I am is increasing steadily. It almost doesn't matter anymore who knows really. Most people are very accepting of it, at least among the people I know. I guess they let their opinion of me color their opinion of the show, rather than the other way around.
One should never let someones opinion get the better of them. If I actually did then I wouldn't be here. Nor would I actually have had find joy on these adorable little ponies.
I mean just look at them !
One does not deny a adorable little marshmallow.
@Engie
Amen.
Meanwhile at the white house.
(BTW MENTALLY ADVANCED VERSION OF MLP IS BEST!)
Last edited Feb 22, 2012 at 04:36PM EST
They're both great, imo. In FiW, Sweetie's a robot. In Mentally Advanced, Tharkazrad (Thrakazard?) is…..a typical pony. They're both funny and amusing. I'd like to see Japple-ack top them.
@Ric
Now all we need is a fat one,one covered in brown splotches, one in a business suit, and an old one, and that can be Newt Gingrich, Santorum, Romney, and Ron Paul, respectivly.
As for the Conor being Berry, please tell me it's not true. Berry and Conor can't be the same person. They just can't.
Also, I don't know about you guys, but I found this pretty damn funny:
