Anyway, it was a bit rushed, but it wasn’t too bad. What do you expect?
Lets just hope the wedding episode will be perfectly timed since they have an hour to do it in.
Well….technically they have 44 minutes.
And remember how rushed Discord's defeat was….?

Characters acting out of character again? I don't know. I never noticed. I tend to warrant the characters a lot of liberty to act as they please though. So that may be why
After all, like you said: the writers only have 22 minutes and sacrifices must be made to fit everything in that time. They really do need an extra 5 minutes to cover all those proper character traits.
It makes sense to me though: the episode demonstrated a simple fact of life: we give into temptations even if its not in our character to do so. It happens. All it takes is a strong enough temptation (delicious cake) and a good speaker for it (Pinkie). Surely you've been there before.

Great, what does this mean for The Pony Hub now?

Party. Duh.
Â
Â
But seriously, with all due respect to Ivan and his efforts, he hasn't been the most consistent of users. I was fearing this from the start along with others.
The site has been down (either due to changes on Ivan's end or due to unavoidable circumstances) three times. I actually think it's been about 4 or 5.
Â
The first incarnation of the forum had some decent activity at first when it didn't look so great, but any momentum was killed by consistently making drastic changes to the site. It was just supposed to be a place where people could have more drawn out talks if they wanted or go on image sprees without having posts thrown into it. But the constant changes killed the momentum.
Â
Â
Forget Ivan. He can be a user when he comes back, but I think we have more than enough evidence to know that he can't run a forum now.
Â
I suggest we just use phpBB or some other free forum. Once we have something there, we figure out if we want to put money into it/recruit other users/change up stuff. And this time, I request that we actually decide as a subcommunity what happens from there. Voting and everything. I think it's better to take two weeks to make a decision than to just have one user and his friends make them for us over the course of a couple of days.
Â
Â
Would you guys want me to set something like that up? You may have become accustomed to the thread again, in which case, I'll just try to find another forum again and just post here on occasion. I don't want to be a moderator or admin of the forum, so I'll ask opspe and Random to moderate if they are up for it (but I know opspe will be busy over the next couple of weeks, so it may have to be someone else for now.)
@Verbose
Perhaps we should take another step back and re-define what we really want.
Do we, the typical users of this thread, feel like we need a separate forum and/or would use one if it was available?
If nobody answers this question I'll just take it as a no.
I got started on the banners I was going to draw for The Pony Hub too. I think I'll just make them anyway

I do personally, but that's just one person for now. I actually think most people (besides me and opspe) seem fairly comfortable on the thread now.
yeah the threads been pretty good recently ^

I agree with this. This thread gives me what I want.
It took some time, but most of the shit we had before this has been dealt with. We have room to discuss stuff, yet when there's nothing to discuss we still have our random posts. Plus we no longer waste another thread every month.
Old users left, new users came, others just stayed. But overall I think it's a great improvement.

I'm sorry. Is that an statement for or against having a separate forum?
I think the thread slowed down due in part to having SynchTubes, TF2 games, the MSN chat, the forum, and having a couple of users leave/come in. It's made the thread move more slowly and it's made things more easy to follow, so now the thread is "better."

I love you KYM Pony General. I never left you and I will never leave you. I will continue to love you like a crazed fat man loves donuts or like Gigatoast loves Screwball, whichever is greater.

EXACTLY. A few more minutes of run time WOULD FIX EVERYTHING.
Given Pinkie's responses to Applejack "breaking" a Pinkie Promise (more like find a loophole) in The Last Roundup, and her friends "abandoning" her in Part of One, Pinkie herself was a little out of character, although you could attribute this to her development.
@dac
The implication of the episode is that apologizing solves everything. And they didn't even admit it at first, making Pinkie and Twilight waste time investigating, instead of being true friends and admitting their guilt right away.
@giga
That was the point they were trying to make, but in doing so, they implied a terrible lesson.
Maybe it's just me being my overanalyzing self as usual, but seriously, you have to admit, that was a disappointing and rushed ending.

@twins
What? You have never in your life withheld the truth from your family or friends to avoid getting in trouble? It doesn't make you any less of a friend nor is it out of character. It's just something everyone does every now and then. Also, it was never implied that apologizing solves everything. It was just a start. What they did afterwards, working together to fix up a dessert, that is what solved the problem. I understand that it was a little rushed and It would have been a little more pissed, but this isn't a showtime, HBO, or AMC show, it's just a kid show that they need to simplify it for kids to understand.
"It's just a kid show that they need to simplify it for kids to understand"
I'm going to have to disagree with this. That's the same mindset that destroyed Spongebob, as well as the rest of children's shows today. That's no excuse for anything. The rest of your post was well written though.The episode, as a whole, was extremely complex, and all the references and parodies went over the heads of any kids watching it, so simplifying everything? The only time the writers dumb things down is at the end, which I don't like, given the brilliance of the rest of the episode.

I worded it wrong, what I mean is that they can't really go to deep into the complexities of friendship, forgiveness, betrayal, and all that good stuff. What kind of message would they be sending if pinkie didn't forgive them, but instead held a grudge? I'm not saying that they can get away with anything and we just accept it because, hey, it's just a kids show. But at the same time, we have to understand that when making a show for ages 4-12, you can't really go too deep without confusing kids. Don't get me wrong, I would like it to be a little longer a have more "adult" themes( e.g. Last airbender and hey Arnold), but again it's My Little Pony.
DJ P0N-3.

Inb4 Hasbro gets the eye color wrong and starts a major sh**storm.
@Another new forum discussion
The thread has been going at a pretty manageable pace recently. Still, there are some aspects of an individual forum that I prefer. For example, if I was to request sadfics here rather than make my own thread on the ponyhub, I might get 2 replies, but then nobody would ever post about it again unless the topic is raised again. On a forum, its always readily accessible, and it won't be buried by other topics (for a while at least).
Except that since nobody uses the forums, there is essentially no difference between posting on here and on a new forum.

Fair enough, fair enough. I think we can all agree that a few more minutes of runtime would give the writers ample time for writing a good ending, and more importantly, give us about 20% more ponies a week (no really that's almost exactly 20%).
Stupid ads need to be offloaded onto whatever comes after MLP.
I just found the artist behind my new profile pic, WhiteDiamondsLtd. Dear Celestia, she's amazing. Her lush colours, simple yet appealing backgrounds, intrinsic charm, and unique art style just makes me want to d'awww all over the place.
Luna's going the way of a Pyro:

My god, that is a befuddling pose. Very "girl next door," if I do say so myself.
Also I call bullshit on the DJ P0N-3 canon. I'll let my guard down when the episode airs on Saturday.

The next episodes (both parts of the wedding are playing together) aren't for two weeks. No new episode this Saturday. :(

Season Finale… not next Saturday?
It'd be better for me the episode was next weekend. Not sure if I'll be able to watch it on the 21st, and really really really don't want to miss it for nothing in this world.
And about the thread quality, I think it is now, should I say, more equilibrated so to speak. First because we managed to put a break on that nonstop activity that the thread was formerly known, and also because the most active posters aren't being that much active (for a few reasons Verbose has mentioned already).
Buy aside that, I too agree that I am accomodated here than anywhere else, so I don't really see a point on separating things.
I just found the TVTropes page for Past Sins.
At least if Giga's still here…
That site is something else. Is there a page for "nothing happens without a reason" or something to that affect?
I'm glad the thread is getting better. I wish it would be faster, no ten pages a day fast, but maybe a post every half hour or so… But that's just me. I hope it will stay in a somewhat stable/happy state for awhile, it greatly affects my IRL mood.
How do you think the Summer Break will affect it? We'll all have more time to be on, but there won't be much new pony.
Concerning Vinyl's eye colour:
That was taken from decompiling the flash animation with Scratch in it.
See the article on EqD here.
If the colour isn't changed for the final release I'm gonna say that's still awesome. At least they didn't give her blue eyes or something completely different from the fanon.
So Vinyl Scratch's eyes are magenta then? That actually makes sense, considering you can't see her eyes through her glasses. Magenta is a shade of red anyways, and I've always found piercing red eyes contradictory to her fandom depiction.
Also, eyelashes. Do female ponies naturally grow them, or are they merely accessories? Rarity doesn't have them, and I don't think that she would clip hers off for any reason. We could go with the standard cartoon "females have eyelashes, males don't," but could it perhaps be something greater in MLP? Part of a CONSPIRACY perhaps?

The eyes being contradictory were kinda the point. They're a piercing red, which is in stark contrast to the white and blue of her coat and mane.
On another note, judging by the lack of eyelashes in that picture, it seems likely that it's simply a placeholder, and assuming Vinyl even appears in the episode (which seems likely), we won't see her eyes.
@Vynil's eyes:
I like purple better. Just my opinion, though, and some people might get ticked off about the change of their headcanons. I think the purple fits with here palette better, though, so I'm not upset.
I got bored, so I'm writing a rap battle between Zecora and Iron Will.

About Scratch's eye color-
Red just never looked right to me I guess?
And about Ivan deactivating – yet again – I guess I can't say I'm surprised. It was cool of him to set up the pony hub for us and I thought the last version was pretty good, but I think people may have lost interest over the week that it was down for that big update that made it what it currently is and now that the thread's back on the right track it may not see much use for awhile.
