It's not a question whether you should choose between vinyl or digital formats when you DJ. The vinyl mix table is one of the instruments that the professionals use. You can DJ without one, but there are certain sounds you can only craft on a mix table, to my understanding. Also, vinyl is the format you wanna use when playing live for it's respective qualities, even though your entire distribution will be digital.

Obviously you don't need vinyl at all to make electro and get it out there. But it has it's place in the electro industry just like the bass guitar has it's place in the rock industry even though it's possible to make rock without one

Yea, about that guy…

Lez is a famous troll on KYM known for posting controversial imagery and 3rd party opinions in the MLP gallery, but he manages to skirt around outright rule breaking so the mods leave him be. He's not nasty or malicious. He doesn't even make the troll images that he posts. He just uploads controversial stuff and watches people freak out. Certainly much nicer than most other trolls we get.

He's also made some useful contributions in the past so I show him some lenience. I just delete his troll images that misuse the gallery.

I advise you not to let him upset you. Just say "oh, that Lez hohoho" and carry on. You know how trolls work. They feed off your upset so don't give it to them.

If he really does cross the line though, please don't rant about him here or anywhere else. PM me or another mod if you have an issue, alright? If he crosses a line, I'll slap him with warning, remove his trolling or issue a suspension.

Please nobody hate on Justin for doing this though. I can almost hear the people going "WAAAH, PUBLICITY STUNT!" but c'mon, maybe Justin genuinely wants to change. There's a point where it's time to just let go of the hate and move on. Criticizing people for doing something nice is just petty on your part.

I think it IS a publicity stunt. Mainly because he's been working hard to make sure everyone hates him (no one does literally ALL this shit without wanting people to notice) so he's going to be like "I know, I'll side with the bronies. EVERYONE will hate me now!"

Or maybe deep inside he knows what it's like to be bullied by a lot of people over nothing and sympathizes with the poor kid……..Nah he's in it for the hate, it's the new thing these popstars are doing these days.

Jumping back a bit because I didn't have time to post yesterday:

For me, Tumblr is a major mixed bag.
On the one hand, it is home to countless fandom blogs that serve to add a very fun element to lots of shows (Pony ask blogs are hugely popular obviously), but on the other, as Joe pointed out, there are practically just as many hate blogs out there as well.
This dichotomy keeps me from trying to make any kind of definitive 'good' or 'bad' judgement on the entire site.

Honestly, I think this is down to the site's format itself.
Rather than a normal forum format, Tumblr essentially allows you to look at what you want and only what you want and arranges it for you sequentially across all your followed blogs.
It sort of promotes a 'soapbox' mentality where an initial post will always be more visible than any response to it.
It's a big reason why the so-called SJW blogs (Don't really like that term, personally) are able to thrive so easily.
Anyone challenging their ideas can be easily lost in the rather unorganized chaos of the reblogging system.

So yeah, Tumblr is a mixed blessing.
Great for some purposes but with significant drawbacks in others.
The various users are too disjointed to really say much else with any real certainty.

Fifth's explanation about broken fantasies does make some sense, though understanding that reasoning should not excuse the behavior in any way.
It's not the girls' faults that their attempts to interact are so problematic for these guys so there is absolutely no justifiable reason to act so hostile toward them.

If I may posit another theory, the whole obsession that some bronies have with trying to label MLP as 'manly' could be a result of the general culture at large.
For… well, for most of human history really, society has been perpetuating the idea that 'girly' = 'bad,' especially in terms of how men are meant to behave.
Guys are simply not allowed to like things that are generally considered 'for girls.'
Now, take a male who has grown up with this idea ingrained in their head and expose them to MLP (and assume they like it).
Everything they are used to knowing says that it should be bad, but they find themselves liking it against their own better judgement.
This cognitive dissonance needs to be resolved.
A lot of bronies do it by saying, 'Well, I guess girly things don't have to be insipid tripe. Girly can be awesome!'
This is the outcome that Faust herself said she was aiming for when designing G4 and is a great way to begin breaking down that notion.

This other subset however, takes an opposite approach.
Since 'girly' = 'bad' in the eyes of society, they feel they must continually assert that MLP is in fact 'manly' as a way of saying that it isn't stupid or mockable for men to like it.
Essentially, rather than letting MLP break society's preconceived notions, they instead rebrand MLP so that it fits into the mold that already exists.
It's an attitude of self-protection by trying to align with the more established, male-oriented pulse of society over risking ostracizatioon themselves.
It's very reactionary and short-sighted, but again, being able to understand the position does not excuse the actions they take or the positions they hold.

Personally, I love it when people embrace the girliness and just go for it.
You're watching My Little Pony for Pete's sake.
You've crossed the 'girly' barrier.
Own it and try to make headway on promoting the idea that girly things can be just as much fun for everyone as anything else.

At the risk of adding fuel to this little fire, some may recall Meghan tweeting something last month:

This, combined with Bieber's seemingly out-of-the-blue response to Micheal's plight, is now making some people theorize that there may actually be something going on here.
Perhaps Bieber has been slated to be a guest voice, perhaps even in EqG2 which we already know will have a 'Battle of the Bands' type of theme.
(Yes, the 'evidence' is tenuous at best, but people have gone nuts over less.)

I personally consider this theory to be radically unlikely considering his less-than-stellar reputation as of late, meaning that he's probably not on a lot of parent's good lists for their daughters to be interested in.
Admittedly though, he was, and probably still is, pretty popular in the target demographic, and even more so if he really is being planned for the slightly older audience of EqG.
It's a massive long shot, but there's just enough plausibility to it for me to avoid outright saying that it won't happen.
I would lose my mind laughing if it did though.

(Again, in all likelihood, it's just coincidence. Biebs is either trying to help his image a bit or making a genuinely nice gesture with neither case having any bearing whatsoever on MLP itself.)

I've never been one for drama, and I know most of you are just joking about it, but jeez I don't want that to happen. That would strip away so many good character traits and conflicts, plus it makes little sense. I mean, yeah, elements of harmony and all that but some on, what has, say, Applejack done that Big Mac wouldn't do? Or what about what Rainbow Dash has done that Soarin or another Wonderbolt wouldn't do?

This is one of those things where if it happened in the show, I might need to take a break from the show for a while. Really think about what's important in my life, you know? Have I been putting too much thought into stalking and butts and stalking butts rather than looking to better myself? Should I become a functioning member of society? Help out in my local community?

I shudder just thinking about it. So no more Alicorns pls staff.

Deadparrot is wrong in assuming Hasbro doesn't want him on there because they're afraid it would affect their image; the legions of beliebers whom he would be able to attract to theatres would more than makeup for a couple outraged soccer moms. I can't see anything really in it for the Biebs though. Even Hasbro's most generous offer wouldn't make any appreciable difference to Bieber's gigantic pile of money (remember that this is the same cunt known to cancel concerts because they only sold 60% of their tickets.) and I can't see it doing anything positive for his image.

…you know though, starring in MLP would appeal to the two forces which have rocketed him to fame: The love of preteen girls and the virulent hatred of counter-cultural neckbeards.

@JB on MLP: I think we're forgetting an important point. JB's target audience is little/teen girls and MLP's target audience is about the same, but slightly lower in age. The two go hand in hand.

There is surprisingly little else context to be had.

Obviously there's going to be plenty of shipping-related drama that comes out of this episode. Plenty of people screaming about "FLASH SENTRY 2.0!" and "Rarity is a lesbian, she was just pretending to like Blueblood!" or whatever it is the drama fans do when being dramatic. My guess is that Trenderhoof (also known as Slenderhoof's trendy brother) is not going to end up with either of them and the Rarijack art will be coming in force.

Just watch him run off with Derpy or some other fan favorite background character at the end. Heheheh… I only make this prediction so it'll hurt less when it really does happen :(

I hate it how anti-bronies/SJW try to seem like we're using Michael Morones to make us "Look Good" for some reason, I mean come the fuck on, even if we try to do something that helps someone, it still doesn't satisfy them. I think it comes to a point were anti-bronies/SJW just won't ever be satisfied, what a shame.

That, sadly, is the nature of hate, my friend. Illogical, unappeasable, and not easily changed.

I've noticed that some people here have a little issue with our beloved independent female ponies fighting over a man. I'm going to have to see the episode and see how they handle the concept, but really I can only imaging they would handle it the way they usually handle conflicts: relatably and realistically. Some have a problem with AJ and Rarity fighting over a guy to begin with but really I am happy a subject like this is being brought up within the show. It is a reality that girls actually do act like this. A lot of friendships find a point of tension when one girl likes a guy but he ends up liking her friend. It sounds like a silly and cliched thing that brings in oodles of bad stereotypes, but this is a realistic scenario. It is also realistic that some girls try to change themselves to impress a boy. In other words, I think this episode will bring on relatable subjects (although more relatable to the older viewers) and a good lesson that any person can take with them. I also really don't like this idea that our characters finding love somehow detracts from their independence as strong characters, I think that's rather silly. Some are just upset by it because it steals their waifus, but I'm not even going to touch that argument.

You know what grinds my gears? Spitfire's voice. It sounded fine during her first few appearances now a days it just sounds…..off. Apparently it's the same voice actress since the season 1 finale….I mean if this is the same voice actress I don't see why she'd go from Season 1 voice to current Spitfire and I'm going to be completely honest here….I hate the new Spitfire voice so fucking much. Never thought I'd grow to hating a character just by a simple voice change, I blame this show. It makes me do things I never thought I'd do 4 years ago, well time to go play in traffic which is also something I didn't think I'd ever do 4 years ago. I blame the show for that one too.

As others have said, that's how irrational hate works.
Do bad: You are all evil; always have been, always will be, and this proves it!
Do good: You're just trying to trick us into thinking you are good. That makes you even more evil!
It's self-fulfilling and completely divisive.
It's not an attitude even remotely exclusive to bronies, either.
Politics is especially rife with these thoughts in recent years and, heck, look no farther than this very page where we were talking about the unfair backlash against Bieber's kind words.
People need to learn that individual people and ideas are usually complex (which implies that groups are even more so) and trying to immediately write off something as either wholly good or wholly bad is a recipe for over-simplification and misunderstanding.
(By the way, this does work in reverse. We should absolutely counter those who hold irrational hate for us, but we have to avoid letting that evolve into irrational hate against them as well or nothing will happen.)

Apparently they really are just genuine mistakes and oversights.
We've been seeing these kinds of animation errors since season one, but everyone is in conspiracy mode with all the mysteries hanging over how the season will conclude and where everything is going.

Well, not in the way y'all are thinking, I bet. I honestly dreaded the day mlp would bring love interests into the fray not because I hate waifu thieves; my waifu is neither Applejack nor Rarity and I'm in a real relationship with a real person (we've been together for a year and a half yet I still can't believe it) so I don't think I have an emotional tie with Luna as strong as those who cause shitstorms online. No, I dread the day mlp would bring in love interest because in a way -- as Crimson Locks said -- it looks pretty cliche and stereotypical, and more importantly it feels like the characters are losing their "innocence."

First of all, I'm talking about the innocence within the show, second, the only fanservice I see evident in mlp are the pop culture references and the allusion to the previous episodes thank you very much.

Those are the only two things I feel like bringing up at least. Personally, I don't like it much when my favorite things are "spiced up" with some romance (I think crushes is as far as mlp will go in the field of romance for the mane 6… hopefully.) but that's totally subjective anyways and not at all worth bringing up on this thread. Onto my two previous complaints: well it's no doubt mlp will once again magically take advantage of my low expectations and come up with a good (if not great) episode, just like they did with the Canterlot Wedding, but ehhh… I don't know why I can't just shake the idea that "crush" is just a cute word for "lust." It's definitely a real thing both guys and girls have to deal with in the real world but I don't think I want that in my candy-colored utopia where the evilest sin is bringing eternal night, the capital punishment is banishment to the moon and the most addictive vice is (possibly alcoholic) apple cider.

tl;dr: I was really afraid of this scenario happening, but I'm hopeful all will turn out alright.

Considering Soarin's back, I'll say Fancy Pants. Pretty much the only "good" noble we've seen, I'd like to see him fleshed out a little more. Justin Bieber is right up there with 9gag, and advice animals on things that everyone's jimmies get jostled and ERs report a huge increase in anal pain, while I just sit by and chuckle merrily. I'll never forget the first time I heard one if his songs (a Christmas one that was playing during the holidays). It was meh. I don't. What Hasbro wants more than anything for EqG is the tween market, and Bieber fits that demand snug as a bug in an air tight, hermetically sealed container filled with expanding foam. I don't think they're that conserned with reputation, considering one of the new writers used to write porn, and another (Haber) has sealed his basedness with /mlp/ due to his (unpolitically correct) tweeting ("Career plan B posts pic of Breaking Bad RV ")

It's self-fulfilling and completely divisive.
It's not an attitude even remotely exclusive to bronies, either.
Politics is especially rife with these thoughts in recent years and, heck, look no farther than this very page where we were talking about the unfair backlash against Bieber's kind words.
People need to learn that individual people and ideas are usually complex (which implies that groups are even more so) and trying to immediately write off something as either wholly good or wholly bad is a recipe for over-simplification and misunderstanding.
(By the way, this does work in reverse. We should absolutely counter those who hold irrational hate for us, but we have to avoid letting that evolve into irrational hate against them as well or nothing will happen.)

Apparently they really are just genuine mistakes and oversights.
We've been seeing these kinds of animation errors since season one, but everyone is in conspiracy mode with all the mysteries hanging over how the season will conclude and where everything is going.
So… back to square one.

um, since it has been happening in nearly every episode, it's kind of disappointing if they are mistakes. ( I can ignore the occasional error, but an error in more or less the same way each episode? begins to look like sloppy work.)

I'll also note that nobody has yet explicitly denied the Mane 6 are going to become Alicorns, just that the animation errors aren't (delibaerately) foreshadowing it.

You're right. Nobody said they won't therefore they will.

The mane6 will all be princesses. Then the background 6 also become princesses. Then you become a princess too. And you become an princess! And you become a princess! Everyone becomes a princess!

I doubt they'll go as far as everypony becoming a princess, especially given the stated requirements for becoming an Alicorn. I can see the Mane 6, possibly the CMC, if they ever discover their cutie marks. But background ponies? unlikely, and if so, we probably won't see it.

Only thing I don't like about episodes like this is the fact that it just seems like the writers were like "Well, every other show ever made had an episode that dealt with a character completely changing themselves to get the attention of a boy/girl which causes the friend of the character to change as well because they don't WANT the attention of the boy/girl crushing on them and not the character so we might as well have an episode like this to get it out of the way."

Also, does it seriously bother anyone else that Fluttershy is considered an Olympic athlete now? That's just…..weird.

How do you think the mane 3 will find there rainbow power? I think how Twilight will find her rainbow power or something will be by looking at one of the glass mosaics of her and her friends (Ya know, all the stuff that happened season premiere after season premiere)

Strange, I quite enjoyed Applejack in this episode. I'm presuming the reason is due to the way she reacted to Rarity's obsession to Trenderhoof. Had I been in the same position, I would have done the same to a friend IRL, but mostly only to mock them.

Also, I'm guessing Trenderhoof is some type of journalist/blogger regarding events in cities. I honestly have no fundamentals to sustain this however.

They say explicitly that he's a travel writer and at one point Rarity mentions reading a piece by him in a magazine. So I think that should answer your question.

I liked how they handled the romance issue in the episode. It would have been a huge problem if the plot had been "two self-respecting, professional women pine after some useless douchebag" but instead we had Applejack being basically indifferent to/annoyed with Trenderhoof's approaches, and Rarity's obsession being (a) somewhat in-character (see: Blueblood) and (b) the example of what not to do within the overall structure of the episode. I also like how they didn't just go make Trenderhoof some malicious airhead, but rather a mostly unselfconscious and arrogant hipster who generally causes trouble without meaning to.

I'd say that, for what it is, the episode is pretty solid.

These people have too much time on their hands, no wonder they're bitching about everything. Next thing you're going to expect is that they find the action of even drawing offensive to those people who can't draw well.

I especially liked this episode. I loved both Rarity and Applejack and I loved the way they acted. It was enjoyable seeing those two play off each other. I also liked Spike and the way he acted. There was a lot of fan service in this episode (not that I'm complaining), but I was more interested in the main characters than what was going on in the background. Very very good episode.

Alright, now you're just making up two different categories so you can more easily make fun of the tumblr people.

You might be annoyed with what the DWM people are doing, but the worst possible reaction would be to use that anger as an excuse to mock anyone calling out discrimination on the internet. Because – in case you haven't noticed – racism and sexism still exist, are still problems, and still need to be called out, and despite their problems it's the SJ people who are the most likely to call it out first.

Also, while we're on the topic of Martin Luther King, let's check out a little passage from his Letter from a Birmingham Jail:

One of the basic points in your statement is that the action that I and my associates have taken in Birmingham is untimely. [. . .] My friends, I must say to you that we have not made a single gain in civil rights without determined legal and nonviolent pressure. Lamentably, it is an historical fact that privileged groups seldom give up their privileges voluntarily. In the context of this issue, it means that any useful social justice campaigning is going to appear pointless or belligerent or untimely to those who are not themselves among the oppressed group. So if you are having an adverse reaction to something that one of these bloggers is saying, it may very well be you who has the problem.

So perhaps we may disagree with something that a particular group of social justice bloggers is saying, but the way that they are saying it falls in line with a set of tactics promoted by perhaps the most successful social justice campaigner in American history. Thus, the mere fact that they have employed those tactics should not, in itself, disqualify them from consideration. When approaching an issue like this, we should act with more humility and self-reflection, just to make sure that we do not find ourselves placed by accident on the wrong side of an important issue.
