About

Technoblade was an American YouTuber best known for his Minecraft play and his friendly rivalry with fellow Minecraft YouTuber Dream.

History

Technoblade, real name "Alex,' launched his YouTube account on October 28th, 2013.[1] He posted his first video on October 31st, and it gained over 780,000 views over 7 years (shown below).

His first video to crack 1 million views was a parody of Taylor Swift's "Blank Space" posted June 16th, 2015 (shown below, left). He did not regularly begin gaining millions of views on his channel until January of 2017, starting with his video "school discovered my channel pls send help" (shown below, right).

Technoblade's reputation as a highly-skilled Minecraft player and YouTube continued to grow throughout his YouTube career, leading to a friendly rivalry with fellow Minecraft YouTuber Dream. On August 28th, 2020, the pair competed in a "championship" series of Minecraft matches for $100,000, with Technoblade winning 6-4.[2] To date, his most popular video is a sketch where he responds to people claiming he uses an "autoclicker" that was posted on June 19th, 2014. However, it seems most of the views came in 2020 according to commenters on the video (shown below, right).

Death

On June 30th, 2021, the Technoblade channel released a video in which his father announced Alex's death after a bout with cancer at the age of 23. Alex left behind a goodbye note for his fans, which his father read.

Online Presence

Technoblade has amassed a sizable online following, netting over 4.3 million YouTube subscribers.[1] He also has over 1.3 million Twitter followers.[3] The subreddit for his channel, created on June 1st, 2015, has amassed over 76,000 subscribers over five years.[4]
