About

67 Hand Gesture, also known as 67 Hand Motion or 67 Hand Movements, refers to a specific hand motion associated with the broader 67 meme that became popularized among younger Gen Z and Gen Alpha in 2025. The gesture involves raising and lowering both hands with palms facing upward in a rhythmic see-saw motion (similar to the gesture for weighing options) while saying "six, seven," referencing a lyric from the song "Doot Doot" by Skrilla.

The gesture itself was created by high school basketball player Taylen Kinney, who became widely known online as "Mr. 6-7," when he made the hand movements in a viral video from December 2024. The hand moves later gained broader visibility following the virality of the 67 Kid, helping transform it from a basketball in-joke into a widely recognized youth-culture meme and inside joke. The gesture has jokingly evolved into a universal language by older generations who have since adopted the gesture ironically.

Origin

The origins of the 67 itself as a meme can be traced to late 2024, following the release of the song "Doot Doot" by Skrilla in December 2024, which featured the lyric "6-7."

On December 16th, 2024, Instagram[1] user @rwe.ote posted an airport dump video featuring high school basketball player Taylen Kinney and his teammates heading to the Bahamas, marking the earliest documented moments of the emerging phenomenon.

In the video, Kinney is asked to rank his Starbucks drink, to which he eventually answers, "Like a 6, 6, 6, 7,” while gesturing the weighing of options with his hands. The post received over 13,200 likes in 18 months.

Spread

The 67 hand gesture began making its way to basketball edits on platforms such as TikTok in early 2025 as it started spreading on social media.

On February 6th, 2025, TikTok[2] user @chris.2icey used the clip of the high school basketball star rating his drink in an edit. The video received over 953,000 views and 107,500 likes in a bit over a year.

On February 14th, 2025, TikTok[3] user @overtime shared a compilation showing Taylen Kinney taking over schools with the “6-7” phrase and gesture. The video received over 8.6 million views and 720,200 likes in just over a year.

On March 31st, 2025, YouTube[4] user Cam Wilder uploaded the original AAU basketball video titled “MY OVERPOWERED AAU TEAM HAS FINALLY RETURNED!” that introduced the world to the "67 Kid" (Maverick Trevillian) doing the iconic hand gesture and phrase. The video received over 1.62 million views and 58,400 likes in a bit over a year.

The 67 Kid video's mass virality propelled the phrase and accompanying gesture even further over the following months.

On June 7th, 2025, TikTok[5] user @strictlybball uploaded a video covering Taylen Kinney launching his own “6-7 Water” brand on “TK Day,” highlighting the growing cultural impact of the gesture. The video received over 2.3 million views and 196,500 likes in one year.

As the 67 gesture grew in virality during 2025, many social media users mistakenly credited 67 Kid (Maverick Trevillian), a key popularizer rather than its originator, with creating the trend.

On September 10th, 2025, TikTok[6] user @notanothercomchannel posted a retrospective video titled “THE ‘6–7’ MEME KID THAT STARTED IT ALL.” The video received over 28.4 million views and 718,200 likes in nine months.

@notanothercomchannel THE “6–7” MEME KID THAT STARTED IT ALL 😭🏀 #67Kid #Basketball #67 . . The internet has seen thousands of memes… but few have had the staying power and absurdity of the “6–7” basketball kid. Today, we’re throwing it all the way back with the original video that gave birth to the legendary meme that took over TikTok, Instagram, Twitter, and now YouTube Shorts. This moment -- a kid at a basketball game, being asked for his height and saying “6’7” with complete deadpan seriousness -- became one of the most iconic, aura-rich moments in modern meme history. From Aura Farming lore to NPC compilations, this clip is the Rosetta Stone of meme energy. The delivery, the look, the vibes -- everything about this moment feels like it was blessed by the meme gods. It spawned countless remixes, voiceovers, parodies, and compilations of fake flexes, unearned confidence, and peak rizzless aura. It’s been referenced in basketball edits, TikTok stitches, and even branded content. We’re talking about a core memory of the Meme Multiverse. This is where the “he’s not 6’7” but he believes he is energy began. It’s the intersection of NPC behavior, rizz delusion, and high school gymnasium chaos -- a true cultural artifact. If you're new here, welcome to the Auraverse. If you're an OG, you already know this is part of the generational meme debt that reshaped internet humor. This is more than a clip -- it's a timestamp in meme evolution, forever etched in the algorithm.
