Another Day, Another Slay, continued Period Pooh, is a catchphrase and reference to a series of viral videos of a young Black girl named Ty the Dancer (tythedancer_) who says, "Another day, another slay. Period pooh," and then does a twirl in her outfit. The most notable video shows her doing a twirl on a purple hoverboard. The original videos were uploaded to YouTube in 2021 but trended on TikTok in 2022 within greenscreen edits that inserted Ty spinning into microwaves, blenders and other objects that spin. Inherently, her catchphrase references both LGBTQ+ and girlboss slang terms "Periodt" and "Slay."

Origin

On May 3rd, 2021, Ty the Dancer uploaded her first "Another Day, Another Slay" video to YouTube^[1] as a short, gaining roughly 14 million views and 163,000 likes in a year and a half (shown below).

Spread

On June 3rd, 2021, she posted another YouTube^[2] short that followed the same theme, earning roughly 2.9 million views and 60,000 likes in a year and a half. On July 21st, 2021, she posted another YouTube^[3] short, gaining roughly 7.2 million views and 100,000 likes in 16 months (shown below, left). On December 24th, 2021, she posted another YouTube^[4] short, this time showing her on a purple hoverboard. Over the course of 11 months, the video received roughly 2 million views and 33,000 likes (shown below, right).

On September 27th, 2021, TikToker^[5] headveryempty posted a low-quality version of Ty the Dancer's July 21st short,^[3] gaining roughly 50,000 plays and 2,400 likes in 14 months and currently being the first-known creator to bring the video to TikTok (shown below, left). Later on September 27th, 2021, TikToker^[6] headveryempty posted an even lower quality version, gaining roughly 538,800 plays and 40,700 likes in 14 months (shown below, right).

On October 1st, 2021, the Instagram^[7] page muahhspams posted a low-quality version of the video, gaining roughly 33,500 likes in 13 months. On January 25th, 2022, Twitter^[8] user PSkocimis posted a screenshot of Ty the Dancer with other children image macros, captioning it, "Euphoria Kindergarten," in relation to the Euphoria High School trend, gaining 300 likes in ten months.

On March 10th, 2022, TikToker^[9] jinsfatcake captioned the video with text overlay reading, "Me after 'studying' knowing damn well spend the entire time sketching cats and scrolling thru my phone." The video received roughly 505,100 plays and 20,300 likes in eight months (shown below, left). On April 22nd, 2022, TikToker^[10] jinsfatcake captioned the video with text overlay about going to school with no sleep, no breakfast and multiple other factors that countered Ty the Dancer's optimism. Over the course of seven months, the TikTok received roughly 5.9 million plays and 1.2 million likes (shown below, right).

In late 2022, Ty the Dancer's "hoverboard" video was increasingly exploited on TikTok by meme creators who toyed with her spinning movement. On November 20th, 2022, TikToker^[11] kerokerok3r0ppi green-screened Ty the Dancer spinning in a microwave, gaining roughly 1.8 million plays and 449,100 likes (shown below, left). Other creators followed their example such as TikToker^[12] cupcakkesmilkychichisss on November 21st, 2022, who gained roughly 286,900 plays and 43,100 likes in one day for adding Ty the Dancer to a rotisserie chicken skewer (shown below, right).
