About
Arby’s Meat Mountain refers to a large, off-menu item or secret menu sandwich available at the fast-food restaurant Arby's, which piles together a full lineup of meats offered at the chain. It usually includes two chicken tenders, ham, turkey, corned beef, brisket, roast beef, cheese and bacon stacked into one towering sandwich. First appearing online in 2014, the secret menu item spawned an internet challenge and memes due to its size and difficulty to consume. The large sandwich later saw a notable resurgence on TikTok in April 2026 amid the Rod Wave Arby's Takeover trend.
Origin
The Meat Mountain concept first appeared sometime in 2014, following the use of promotional posters found in Arby's restaurants that showcased the full range of the chain's offerings with an image of a large sandwich composed of every available meat option. As restaurant-goers began asking for the sandwich pictured in the promotional posters, it became a widely recognized off-menu item, eventually being dubbed the "Meat Mountain."[1]
The sandwich became the subject of a viral internet challenge due to its absurdly large size in mid-2014, after appearing on social media around the same timeframe.
The earliest known mention of the off-menu item online appeared in a post on August 18th, 2014, by X[9] / Twitter user @kennedy_hudson, which stated, "Discover the Meat Mountain on Arby's new secret menu," alongside two images of the sandwich. The post, however, did not gain notable engagement.
An early video, uploaded to the CBS Chicago YouTube[2] channel on August 26th, 2014, shows news anchor John Dodge attempting the Meat Mountain challenge as it began garnering virality.
Spread
The Meat Mountain sandwich and related challenge continued to spread across the internet in the following years as it continued receiving attention and participation.
On September 2nd, 2014, competitive eater and YouTuber[3] Matt Stonie uploaded a video titled "Competitive Eater takes on Arby's Meat Mountain," in which he rapidly consumes two large sandwiches. The video has amassed over 3.7 million views in 11 years.
On March 9th, 2017, well-known YouTuber[4] and fast-food reviewer TheReportOfTheWeek, also known as Reviewbrah, posted a food review of the Arby's Meat Mountain sandwich, receiving over 350,000 views, 8,500 likes and 1,200 comments in nine years.
The Meat Mountain challenge remained a prominent food challenge on the internet throughout the 2010s and early 2020s. On May 18th, 2023, streaming group @RDCWorldGaming uploaded footage from a recent stream titled "RDC ATTEMPTS THE ARBY’S MEAT MOUNTAIN SANDWICH!" to their YouTube Channel.[5] The video received over 932,000 views in less than three years.
2026 Resurgence / Rod Wave Arby's Takeover
In April 2026, the Arby's Meat Mountain challenge and sandwich saw a resurgence in interest on TikTok as younger generations attempted the challenge, which prompted various memes and catchphrases, often leaning into irony and brainrot related humor regarding the sandwich to arise. The Meat Mountain was often featured in the Rod Wave Arby's Takeover trend.trend and memes popularized on TikTok at the time.
On April 5th, 2026, TikTok[6] user @tony._yates uploaded a video eating the sandwich captioned, "How I sound whenever I eat the meat mountain from Arby's," which received over 5 million views and 371,400 likes in about two weeks.

The sandwich was inextricably linked to rapper Rod Wave, with the song "Married Next Year" often accompanying AI-generated promotional posters advertising fictional events in April 2026.
For example, on April 18th, 2026, TikTok[7] user @pisspoop1234 posted one such poster promoting the fictional "Arby's Takeover" featuring figures like Donald Trump and Benjamin Netanyahu. The post received over 788,900 views and 117,200 likes in just two days.
Similar AI-generated promotional posters began circulating the platform soon after, prompting TikTok users to go to Arby's to try the challenge, usually invoking Rod Wave as an influence.
On April 19th, 2026, TikTok user @ykareplus posted a video going to Arby's for the fictional event, which received over 1.1 million views and 93,100 likes in just one day.
