About
Avengers: Endgame Portals refers to a image macro series based on a screenshot from the 2019 Marvel superhero film Avengers: Endgame. The scene features an army of superheroes traveling through a number of magic gateways to fight the supervillain Thanos. Additionally, "Portals" is a song composed by Alan Silvestri for the Endgame score.
Origin
On April 26th, 2019, the film Avengers: Endgame was released in the United States. During the film's final fight, an army of Marvel characters come through a number of magic portals to fight Thanos (clip below).
Spread
On May 13th, Twitter [1] @marvel_shots posted a screenshot of the scene, receiving more than 900 retweets and 4,200 likes in less than two weeks (shown below, left). That day, the image was shared on the /r/marvelstudios[2] subreddit, where it received more than 47,000 points (93% upvoted) and 1,800 comments.
That day, Redditor[3] SpiritedAstronaut posted a captioned image macro of the scene in the /r/5ToubunNoHanayome (shown below, center).
The following day, Redditor[4] Tayphix posted an object-labeled variation of the image that jokes about the Jame Charles-Tati Westbrook controversy. The post received more than 15,000 points (4% upvted) and 140 comments in one week (shown below, right).
