I Am Inevitable refers to a memorable quote from 2019 Marvel superhero film Avengers: Endgame, said by character Thanos on several occasions. Following the premiere of the film, the quote has been often referenced online, as well as saw use as a reaction.

Origin

On April 26th, 2019, Marvel superhero film Avengers: Endgame premiered in the United States.^[1] In a number of scenes in the film, character Thanos, portrayed by Josh Brolin, says the phrase "I am inevitable", implying that the other characters of the film will not be able to interfere with his plan.

But the work is done. It will always be done. I am inevitable.

In one scene of the movie, character Tony Stark, portrayed Robert Downey Jr., replies to Thanos with an altered version of the catchphrase.

And I am Iron Man.

Following the premiere of the film, the catchphrase has been referenced in posts on Twitter, Reddit and other online platforms. On April 23rd, 2019, following the film's premiere in South Korea, Twitter user @junny3173_2 tweeted the quote, attaching a captioned GIF from 2008 superhero film Iron Man.^[2] The tweet gained over 7,000 retweets and 25,000 likes in six days.

On Reddit, image macros featuring the quote were posted following the United States premiere. On April 28th, 2019, Redditor Asadbnurza posted an image macro based on the quote to /r/EndgameSpoilers subreddit, gaining over 770 upvotes in tow days (shown below, left).^[3] On April 29th, 2019, Redditor AwpTicTech posted another macro with the quote (shown below, right).^[4]
