I Don't Even Know Who You Are is a memorable quote from 2019 Marvel superhero film Avengers: Endgame said by character Thanos. Following the premiere of the film, a still image captioned with the quote has been circulated as a macro and a reaction.
Origin
On April 26th, 2019, Marvel superhero film Avengers: Endgame premiered in the United States.[1] In one scene of the film, the character Scarlet Witch engages in a battle with the main villain Thanos. Before their fight begins, Scarlet Witch says that Thanos "took everything from her", to which he responds that he doesn't even know her.

Spread
Following the premiere of the film, the format gained significant spread on Reddit and other online platforms, with some of the earliest notable examples posted to /r/EndgameSpoilers subreddit. For example, on April 27th, Redditor godzillerie made a post which gained over 1,200 upvotes in 11 days.[2] On the same day, Redditor NotFGordan posted a meme which received over 480 upvotes in the same period.[3]
In the following weeks, the format saw moderate use on several subreddits, including /r/thanosdidnothingwrong[4] and /r/dankmemes.[5]
