"Don't Do That. Don't Give Me Hope" is a memorable quote uttered by the character Hawkeye in the 2019 superhero film Avengers: Endgame. Online, a screenshot of Hawkeye saying the line has been used as a reaction image macro.
Origin
On April 26th, 2019, the film Avengers: Endgame was released in theaters in the United States.[1] In the film, which takes mostly takes place five years after the events of Avengers: Infinity War, the character Hawkeye (portrayed by Jeremy Renner) is told there may be a way to save his family and friends that have been killed by Thanos. He responds, "Don't do that. Don't give me that hope."

Several weeks later, on May 17th, Facebook [2] user BG Finito posted the image with the caption "When my crush reacts with a heart on my pic" in the Marvel Shieldposting Facebook group The post received more than 680 reactions in less than one month (shown below, left).
Two days later, Facebook[3] user memesupremeofficial posted the image with the caption "When a random girl looks at you on the train." The post received more than 975 reactions, 255 shares and 180 comments in less than one month (shown below, center).
That day, Redditor [4] zefanja_sdm posted the image in the /r/MemeEconomy subreddit, where it received more than 130 points (97% upvoted) and 25 comments (shown below, right).
On June 6th, Memepdia.ru[5] published an entry on the meme.
