Bernie Sanders' Clothes Chair is an image macro meme featuring a photograph of 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Senator Bernie Sanders standing in front of a television set next to a chair covered in clothes. The image went viral in March 2020 on Twitter with many relating to the photograph and the use of a chair as a place for clothes.

Origin

On March 4th, 2020, Sanders' son Levi Sanders tweeted[1] the photograph with the caption "Watching and waiting for the results from various races throughout the country. #UsNotMe." The tweet received more than 27,000 likes and 1,000 retweets in less than 24 hours (shown below).

Hours later, people began commenting on the chair. Twitter[2] user @keewa tweeted a picture of President Donald Trump's living room and compared it to Sanders'. They captioned the post, "A tale of two living rooms." The post received more than 147,000 likes and 19,000 retweets in less than 24 hours (shown below, left). Twitter[3] user @taragolshan shared the tweet and wrote, "@BernieSanders has a clothes chair." The post received more than 68,000 likes and 7,800 retweets in less than 24 hours (shown below, center). Twitter[4] user @thefouchoe tweeted, further proof that bernie is a man of the people – he has 'the chair.'" The tweet received more than 176,000 likes and 21,000 retweets in less than 24 hours (shown below, right).

My roomate had a clothes chair in college. He'd do laundry, then put the clothes in his chair. When he used the chair, he put them on his bed. When he went to bed, he put them back in the chair. I don't think his clothes ever went in his closet.
