Both Normal To Want And Possible To Achieve is a catchphrase and phrasal template used by meme creators based on a 2019 tweet about getting a "good grade" in therapy. Going forward, the phrase was used ironically and became an exploitable on Tumblr where meme creators recaptioned various parts of the statement for humorous effect.

Origin

On March 6th, 2019, Twitter^[1] user yellowcardigan posted a tweet about her therapist laughing at a joke of hers during a session. She states to herself in the tweet, "This is great. I’m going to get a good grade in therapy, something that is both normal to want and possible to achieve." Over the course of three years, it received roughly 168,700 likes (shown below).

Spread

On March 7th, 2019, yellowcardigan's tweet was reposted to Instagram^[2] by the page thebestsocialmedia, earning roughly 1,000 likes in three years. On December 7th, 2020, the Tumblr^[3] blog caitcosplays exploited the text written in the screenshot, replacing the word therapist with "discord friends" and receiving roughly 83,700 notes in two years (shown below).

Inspired by the aforementioned re-edit, more Tumblr users started exploiting the tweet screenshot. For instance, on January 5th, 2021, the Tumblr^[4] blog giant-goldfish shared a version about going to the dentist, earning roughly 29,900 notes in a year and a half (shown. below, left). On May 14th, 2021, the Tumblr^[5] blog neurotypical-karen shared a version about librarians, earning roughly 11,100 notes in one year (shown below, right).

The screenshot continued to be exploited across Tumblr going into 2022. It also circled back to Twitter where more users inserted the phrase into their tweets. For instance, on January 19th, 2022, Twitter^[6] user rubycumulous posted a tweet about a mutual liking her tweet, earning roughly 50,800 likes in five months (shown below).
