About
Bugs Bunny Scream refers to a video of Bugs Bunny screaming, coughing, then spraying his throat and screaming again even louder from the 2003 film Looney Tunes: Back In Action. In mid-2021 people began using the clip as an exploitable, replacing the second scream with other sound effects for comedic effect.
Origin
On November 9th, 2003, Looney Tunes: Back In Action, a Warner Bros. film that mixes reality with animation similar to Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, was released in theatres. At one point in the film, there is a car chase, and Bugs Bunny screams in the backseat, coughing in-between then spraying his throat before continuing to scream even more extremely (shown below).
On July 22nd, 2021, YouTube[1] meme page Its Mathy posted a video adding a Tyler1 scream over the second instance of Bugs screaming, garnering over 28,000 views in just under two weeks (shown below). This is the earliest known version of the clip edited as a meme.
On April 19th, 2021, YouTube user Cole Seaboy Media Corner posted a clip of bugs bunny screaming but replacing his scream with a ear raped version of a man screaming (shown below). This is an early example of the meme.
Spread
The format grew considerably in popularity throughout the end of July going into August, resulting in a number of popular uploads to YouTube. For example, on July 23rd, YouTuber[2] Carl NE posted a video replacing the second scream with the Wilhelm Scream, gaining over 292,000 views in a week (shown below).
On July 24th YouTuber[3] Little_boi uploaded one replacing the scream with the Windows XP startup sound, gaining over 210,000 views in a week (shown below, left). On July 25th, YouTuber[4] UnderCookedGamer posted one replacing the scream with Wario, gaining over 200,000 views in the same span of time (shown below, right).
On August 2nd, YouTuber[5] Lessons In Meme Culture posted a video examining the meme (shown below).
