Call of Duty Perk Parodies are image macros featuring icons for perks from various games in the Call of Duty franchise captioned with jokes using the name of the perk as a punchline.

Origin

In multiplayer modes for many games in the Call of Duty franchise, players can acquire perks that passively grant bonuses to their character in various ways.^[1] On July 25th, 2017, Redditor Destructaucon submitted a screenshot of the "Awareness" perk in Call of Duty: Black Ops II, Call of Duty: Black Ops III and Call of Duty Online with the caption "When you're beating ur meat in your room while everybody is home" (shown below). Within 48 hours, the post gained over 9,200 points (95% upvoted) and 90 comments on /r/dankmemes.^[2]

Spread

On July 25th, Redditor themidgetchicken submitted a screenshot of the "Dead Silence" perk with the caption "When you beat your meat with your parents home" to /r/dankmemes^[4] (shown below, left). The following day, Redditor Oswamano posted a picture of the "Sonic Boom" perk with the caption "when you beat your meat after coming home from family vacation and nut so hard you blow a hole through the ceiling" to /r/dankmemes^[3] (shown below, right).

Also on July 26th, Redditor shibusame submitted a picture of the "Scavenger" perk icon with the caption "When you nut but forgot to grab your tissues beforehand" on /r/dankmemes^[5] (shown below, left). On July 27th, Redditor ariK79 posted the "Deep Impact" and "Lightweight" icons accompanied by mock dialogue of a father asking "what are you intentions with my daughter" (shown below, right).
