Cleary You Don't Own An Air Fryer refers to an exploitable meme format in which people make jokes about others who don't own an air fryer. The catchphrase became the subject of memes in mid-2021, particularly demotivational posters.
Origin
On February 11th, 2021, Redditor u/ThibautP[1] uploaded one of the first uses of the meme to the meme subreddit /r/okaybuddyretard. The meme, which uses Robert Downey Jr. in the scene from Iron Man, which later was used for the Jarvis Commands meme, with the demotivational caption saying the catchphrase "Clearly You don't own an air fryer." The upload received over 17,000 upvotes in three years (shown below).
Spread
Shortly after the first usage in early 2021, the phrase began to be used with other pictures serving as the context. On March 4th, 2021, X / Twitter user @ConRayArt[2] uploaded a picture of the streamer Jerma985 in the same demotivational style with the catchphrase being used underneath the picture, earning over 4,000 likes in three years (shown below).
The phrase continued to see usage over the following year before slowing down, while still maintaining the demotivational look of the original. On March 1st, 2022, iFunny user OnlySadMemesHere[3] uploaded a different version of the meme in which Jimmy Neutron is shown as the one saying the phrase (shown below).
