About
Cuphead "YOU IS A" refers to an edited viral video from the Cuphead animated television series in which Cuphead says "You is a motherfucker, you know that?" The video became popular in remixes in July 2022.
Origin
On February 18th, 2022, Netflix released the 5th episode of season 1 of the Cuphead animated series called "Roll The Dice." In a clip from the episode, Cuphead says "That's for you, Jimmy! And you know what for!" (shown below).
On March 24th, 2022, Twitter[1] user @cooldisks101 posted a video dubbing over a comic made by FoolishRat6[2] on February 20th, 2022 in which Cuphead says "You is a motherfucker!" (shown below).

On March 27th, Twitter [3] user MayngueneBanana posted an edit of the original Cuphead clip with @cooldisks101's reading of "You is a motherfucker!" (shown below).
Precursor
The meme may be based on a spanish meme called Eso por ti Mr beast, no me diste el dinero que me debes (English: That for you Mr beast, you didn't give me the money you owe me ) which became popular in early March, 2022. On March 8th, 2022, the user FraNS_Roblox YouTube [7] channel uploaded a video where cuphead is seen saying the phrase in low quality, gaining over 61 views in 4 months (shown below).

On July 1st, 2022, the user inky_bearr reposted the dubbed video to YouTube [4], gaining over 9,408 views in six days (shown below, left). On July 5th, 2022, content creator SlippyRedSocks upload a video[5] showing a scene of the mod "Indie Cross V1" from the game Friday Night Funkin' featuring Cuphead saying the line, gaining over 385,923 views in three days (shown below).
On July 11th, 2022, the Lessons In Meme Culture YouTube [6] channel uploaded a video on the growing meme, gaining over 291,000 views in one day (shown below).
