Denji, You Like This Too Right? or Denji Gets Shot In the Head refers to a scene from Chainsaw Man episode eight where Denji is shown a photograph of a Yakuza debt collector he killed by the collector's grandson, who then shoots him in the head. The episode premiered in November 2022 and the scene was posted to Twitter with the photograph edited to be a green screen, inspiring numerous edits on Twitter and YouTube over the following days.

Origin

On November 29th, 2022, season one episode eight of Chainsaw Man premiered in Japan. Late in the episode, the grandson of a Yakuza debt collector that Denji killed shows him a photograph of the debt collector, saying, "Danji, you love him too, right?" also subtitled as "Denji, you like this too right?" Denji denies it and is then shot in the head by the man (shown below, left). That day, YouTuber[1] BlueEyes posted an edit of the scene replacing the photograph with an image of Neco-Arc, garnering over 21,900 views in two days (shown below, right).



It was also posted to the user's Twitter[2] page @BlueEyed1412, garnering over 6,800 likes and 65,000 views in the same span of time. Shortly after, they commented on the post with a green screen version of the meme, writing, "NEW MEME FORMAT" garnering over 380 likes in two days (shown below).


Spread

That same day on November 29th, 2022, Twitter[3] user @CSPerfectShot reposted the green screen format, writing, "New Chainsaw Man Meme Format," garnering over 175,000 likes and 21,000 retweets in two days. Twitter users began commenting new edits of the scene under the post and @BlueEyed1412's original post. For example, on November 30th, Twitter[4] user @lesss_sugar posted an edit placing the Batman Haircut Guy over the green screen, garnering over 6,000 likes and 61,000 views in a day (shown below).



The edits also spread to YouTube. On November 30th, YouTuber[5] Oatomiru posted a version of the video placing a scene from Bocchi The Rock on the green screen, garnering over 9,000 views in a day (shown below). On the same day, TikToker[6] @naehunui reposted the Neco-Arc version, garnering over 400,000 views in a day.



On the same day, Twitter[7] user @SushiKei22 posted a Rickroll version of the meme, garnering over 2,100 likes in a day (shown below).
