About

Disintegrating Squirrel, also known as Vaporizing Squirrel or Disintegrating Chipmunk, refers to a seemingly AI-generated image of a squirrel (or chipmunk) disintegrating into dust, which was used as a reaction image and in a series of image macros in mid-to-late 2025. The picture captures the squirrel with an exaggerated expression of distress, aimed to bring a lighthearted twist to the dramatic disintegration effect, making it a prevalent reaction image online. Its first known upload was on Twitter / X in June 2025. It later spread to other social media sites like Reddit and TikTok. The disintegration effect used in the meme is reminiscent of the Thanos "snap" scene from Avengers: Infinity War and the Screaming Ash Baby meme.
