About
Dr. Mario Remixes is a series of YouTube Poop Music Videos (YTPMVs) on YouTube and MAD videos on Nico Nico Douga (NND) consisting of "Fever" which is the audio track from the Nintendo's game series.[1]
Origin
This song "Fever" has severa remixed/arranged version. But, the most popular tune in this fad is Super Smash Brothers Series version.
Spread
This fad began on both YouTube and NND around the first half of 2009. YouTube has already got a hit video in this series on January of that year. This, "Dr. Heavy", was a derivative of Team Fortress 2 meme which was posted on January 9th, 2009 (shown below, left). Meanwhile, this fad in NND occured independently of that of YTPMVs. The first MAD video that led to a substantial increase in popularity of the series in NND was "Dr.Misaka", posted to NND on May 3rd, 2009 (shown below, right). As evidenced by the title, this video featured Mikoto Misaka from a Japanese anime/light novel series A Certain Magical Index.
Since then, so many Dr. Mario remixes have been uploaded to both YouTube[2] and NND.[3]
