Drunk Taylor refers to videos of Taylor Swift appearing intoxicated while singing along to her own music at a party in Los Angeles. The videos led to jokes from her fans to circulate on Twitter with the hashtag #DrunkTaylor.
Origin
Early in the morning of August 11th, 2019, Taylor Swift was videoed partying with several celebrities such as Laverne Cox, Hayley Kiyoko, and members of the band HAIM at the restaurant Beauty and Essex in Los Angeles.[1] In the video, Swift appears intoxicated as she dances and sings along to her songs like You Need to Calm Down.

As the videos spread on Twitter, Taylor Swift fans began making jokes about them using the hashtag #DrunkTaylor. User @7reputations[2] posted a still from the video joking about people being too loud at 7 in the morning, gaining over 360 retweets and 2,000 likes (shown below, left). User @taygrewe[3] posted a joke that gained over 250 retweets and 1,800 likes (shown below, right).
The following morning, Swift posted to Instagram about the trending hashtag, saying "Threw a party to celebrate with the people who made the ME! & YNTCD videos with me- and we had so much fun that ‘Drunk Taylor’ is trending on Twitter. CHEERS. 😆🍾👍👏"[4] (shown below). Jokes were covered by E! news.[1]
