About
Dugga Doo is a Doctor Who character who sings a song titled "Dugga Doo," consisting of the repeated lyric, "dugga doo," in the May 17th, 2025 episode titled, "The Interstellar Song Contest." The character, depicted as a bipedal, orange and black striped alien with a trumpet-like beak, appears briefly in the episode to perform the song. The song was popular among fans of the show, inspiring memes, fan art and other posts about Dugga Doo.
Origin
On May 17th, 2025, Disney+ premiered the Doctor Who episode "The Interstellar Song Contest," which sees the Doctor try and stop two Hellions from broadcasting a delta wave to the viewers of the "803rd Interstellar Song Contest," which sees species from across space perform in a song contest. The second performance shown is by an alien from the planet Grimbald named Dugga Doo, who sings a song titled "Dugga Doo." A full clip of his performance was uploaded to the Doctor Who YouTube[1] channel on May 21st, 2025, garnering over 235,000 views in eight days.
Spread
The character and its song garnered viral spread online following the premiere of the episode. For example, on May 17th, 2025, X[2] user @Ouarmy posted a piece of fan art of Dugga Doo, writing, "I love you Dugga Doo," garnering over 1,200 likes in roughly two weeks.

On May 19th, X[3] user @realmunchbob posted photos of a crocheted Dugga Doo that they made, garnering over 2,400 likes in 10 days. On the same day, TikToker[4] @crangotang posted an animation based on Dugga Doo that garnered over 285,000 views in the same span of time.

On May 20th, TikToker[5] @paulclark1692 posted a video of sevral people doing a choreographed dance to "Dugga Doo," garnering over 230,000 views in nine days.

On May 22nd, TikToker[6] @grandma._.core posted a video in which they point out that the Tardis translates every language to English, which suggests that Dugga Doo is singing the words "dugga doo," which translate the exact same in English, garnering over 371,000 views in a week.

That same day, Tumblr[7] user floptopus posted an image compiling behind-the-scenes footage from the episode in which one person claims that the composer Murray Gold was responsible for "Dugga Doo," the post reading, "This is so funny to me. They just woke up one day to this in their emails. They didn’t ask for it. They didn’t even want it. And yet it’s in the episode anyway. Dugga doo is inescapable," garnering over 3,000 notes in a week.
