Rory Williams is a character from the popular BBC network show, Doctor Who. He is a companion of the 11th doctor.
This meme was created when people noticed Rory's habits of escaping death, being involved in epic scenes, and remaining calm under intense situations. During the episode, "The Pandorica Opens" he chose to stay behind to guard the Pandorica, which housed his wife, for 2000 years, showing his determination.
Another notable example would be in the episode, "A Good Man Goes to War" of Doctor Who, where he was involved with the destruction of the twelfth Cyber Legion, shown below.
