The image of Eddy was first posted on October 18th, 2010 in a reaction thread posted on /co/ named "Why does Ed Ed and Eddy make such good reaction images?". The thread involved a cropped, screen caped picture of Eddy raising his hands in displeasure, similar to the "Y U NO" guy.
