About

Kevin's TV is a popular YouTube fad that involves editing a scene from an episode of the Cartoon Network animated television series Ed, Edd n Eddy. The original scene is heavily exploitable, with YouTube users often replacing what appears on Kevin's TV with various television shows, films and other clips.

Origin

The scene originates from the Ed, Edd n Eddy episode "A Town Called Ed", which originally aired on April 20, 2007.[1] In the episode, various children from the cul-de-sac head over to Kevin's house for a monster truck rally TV marathon viewing party. Eddy, angry that they are more interested in the marathon than the story of his significance to the town of Peach Creek, decides to get their attention by messing with Kevin's TV signal, causing the TV to cut to static. Kevin tries to fix this by repeatedly banging on the side of TV; the signal then returns, but Ed, Edd and Eddy appear on the screen. Sarah then shouts: "I hate public access!"

Spread

On August 9, 2009, YouTube user shark890 uploaded the first variation of the scene, appropriately titled "kevin's tv broke". It used a clip of Jonathan Ware from the I Like Turtles viral video. The original video has since accumulated over 74,000 views as of May 14, 2012.
