Overview

Chivegate or F1exican's "Cutting Chives Every Day" Reddit Drama refers to controversy surrounding Redditor F1exican for reposting the same photo of a chopping board full of chives to the /r/KitchenConfidential subreddit as part of his "Cutting a cup of chives every day until this Reddit says they’re perfect" series of posts, purportedly in an attempt to pass off the photo as a new attempt at perfectly cutting chives. F1exican started the series of posts in early October 2025, and they became very popular on the /r/KitchenConfidential subreddit, inspiring memes and discussions.

On day 31 of the series, F1exican reposted the same photo he posted on day 23, but flipped, resulting in callouts on the subreddit. F1exican responded with an apology for reposting the chives, claiming that he had car troubles and was unable to cut chives that day. The user continued the series thereafter.

u/F1exican's Apology

On November 7th, 2025, F1exican made a post to the /r/KitchenConfidential[7] subreddit sharing day 32 of their series and apologizing for reposting an old chive photo and trying to pass it off as a new photo. The post, which gained over 65,000 upvotes and 4,000 comments in three days, reads:

Hey everyone. I would just like to come out and apologize for post the same pile of chives twice,

I was having car problems yesterday and was unable to get and cut chives, and rather than being upfront and honest with you guys I chose to repost chives. I didn’t want to give you guys another chiveless day.

I see now that it would have been better to just be honest and say no chives rather than try and lie, this also goes against the whole point of the posts, I would like to thank all of you for holding me accountable for my actions.

I will be subjecting myself to a Reddit decided punishment, the most upvoted punishment that is REASONABLE will be my punishment. So nothing illegal nothing expensive please but cutting extra chives or maybe something I have to do for the rest of my posts.

I again apologize and will ensure this never happens again.
