DashCon 2 is an annual Tumblr convention in Ontario, Canada.^[1] Unlike the original DashCon which was widely considered a spectacular failure, DashCon 2 was well-received during its inagural edition.

2025 edition

The first edition of DashCon 2 was held on 5 July 2025 in Toronto, Canada, at a venue called the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre.^[2] The one-day event attrached somewhere between 800-1000 visitors. The convention featured many references to the original DashCon, such as a ball pit, a bouncing castle, and a donation goal of $17,000 (albeit for charity).

Attendees

Nessie

One of the attendees was Lochlan "Nessie" O'Neil, the founder of the original DashCon.^[6] She cosplayed as the DashCon ballpit^[4] and held a panel about rabies.^[5]

Strange Æons

Another celebrity attendee was Strange Æons, a YouTuber focused on Tumblr culture. She and the Muppet Joker duelled in a bouncing pit.

Xiran Jay Zhao

Another celebrity attendee was Xiran Jay Zhao, YouTuber and professional author. She cosplayed Maximilien Robespierre and took part in a scripted stage invasion against Nessie (below, right).

2026 edition

The second edition of DashCon 2 was announced to take place from 1 to 2 August 2026, at the same venue and location as the previous year.^[3]

The second event was also regarded as highly successful. Its headline events included a plotline about the French Revolution – “Ballpit Queen” Nessie and “Sir” Strange Æons represented a monarchy, and Xiran Jay Zhao (cosplaying as Maximilien Robespierre) represented a republic. Attendees were able to vote to execute either Strange or Zhao by guillotine. Zhao “won” the vote and was theatrically guillotined. Shortly after, Zhao showed up again cosplaying as Napoleon Borntoparty Bonaparte, which referenced the real historical timeline of how Robespierre was followed by Bonaparte.

DashCon 2 Romania

A spin-off convention was announced on March 6 to be held in Bucharest, Romania on November 21.^[7]

2027 edition

A third edition of DashCon 2 is in development but has not been confirmed yet. According to the organizers, it will be announced in October 2026.^[8]
