On July 27th, 2024, April Johns released a Google Drive link^[1] featuring three folders filled with crime scene photos related to the 2015 "Dee Dee” Blanchard murder, who was killed by Gypsy Rose Blanchard and then-boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn. The file contained the folders "Evidence Markers, Inside House- Property and Body and Bed," showing gore pictures of Dee Dee's body and the state of the house found by the police.

On July 28th, 2024, TikToker^[3] April Johns, also known as Fancy Macelli claimed she is the owner of the Google Drive link with Dee Dee Blanchard's crime scene photos. She uploaded a video on TikTok (seen below) explaining the images were not a "leak," as some people alleged and that they have actually been available to the public since nine years ago. The video amassed more than 7,000 plays and 234 likes in a few hours.

The Gypsy Rose crime scene photos became a viral topic after the leak in late July 2024, sparking numerous debates and memes about Dee Dee's deceased body seen in the pictures. For example, on July 28th, 2024, X^[2] user @CG_IS_MOTHER posted a reaction video of a woman crying paired with the caption, "FUCK I JUST SAW THE GYPSY ROSE CRIME SCENE PICS." Dee Dee's photos also became a viral topic on TikTok, as user @thelittlenewsnook^[4] uploaded a video on July 28th, 2024, commenting on the subject (seen below, left), amassing more than 109,000 likes in a day.

On the same day, TikTok^[5] user @isaaaamarie posted a video with the overlay text, "This is probably a controversial take but I genuinely do not understand how people are shocked at the Gypsy Rose crime scene photos." The post (seen below, right) amassed more than 463,000 plays and 78,000 likes in a few hours.

I just find it interesting she chose the fame and money even at the cost of having to re-live the trauma everday in the public eye. I dont think that would have been the choice many other people would have made if they were in her shoes. This video is in no way intended to take away from Gypsy’s experiences and harships. She went through something we are all blessed to not have gone through. This video is merely a conversation starter. I want to hear your opinions.
