Overview

The Kai Cenat Kierra Rush Controversy, also known as the Kai Cenat Layla Red Controversy, refers to allegations levied by OnlyFans (OF) model Layla Red Cakes (aka Kierra Rush) in April 2024 against Twitch streamer Kai Cenat, who she said paid $5,000 for intercourse with her which was part of a sum of "hush money" that he never paid in full. Rush levied the allegations on her Instagram account @laylaredcakesss via an Instagram Story that showed alleged Apple Pay receipts and photos of her and Cenat in bed. Then, she added to her claims on her Twitter / X on her account @LaylaRed1. Her TikTok page @laylaredcakes also went viral. Then, Cenat addressed the accusations, aiming to debunk her claim, labeling her a "clout chaser" and saying that he was going to take her to court. Cenat furthered his claims when he made a website compiling videos aimed at debunking Rush.

Background

Kierra Rush, aka Layla Red, started levying her allegations against Kai Cenat on her Instagram and TikTok accounts sometime on or before April 14th, 2024. A since-deleted TikTok video from her account was reposted by X[1] user @IAmLilRico on April 14th. It showed alleged photos of her in bed with Cenat and a text caption that said the streamer didn't pay her all of her "hush money." The tweet received over 11 million views and 70,000 likes in a day (shown below).


As of April 15th, 2024, Rush's Instagram account @laylaredcakesss is deactivated. However, a screen recording of her Instagram story in which she showed a payment of $5,000 purportedly from Kai Cenat was posted by X[2] user @EugineFisher on April 14th, gaining over 3.7 million views and 7,600 likes in a day (shown below).


Rush added to @EugineFisher's post with her own reply,[3] including recordings of iMessage conversations allegedly with Cenat, gaining over 1,100 likes in a day (non-embeddable).

Kai Cenat's Response

On April 14th, 2024, a clip was shared by X[4] user @domainsdomain showing Cenat's then-recent stream in which he said Rush was "clout chasing" and that he'd see her in court, implying that he wanted to sue her. The tweet gained over 10.9 million views and 10,000 likes in a day (shown below).


Cenat then launched a website called kierrarush.com,[5] which led with the title "Kierra Rush Exposed As A Liar!" and included five clips from his then-recent stream in which he played phone recordings with Rush. Overall, he aimed to prove that Rush was breaking the law by using leaked explicit content of him as "revenge." He also claimed that he only paid for Rush's Uber ride.

Two of Cenat's videos were posted by X[6] user @kirawontmiss on April 14th, 2024, gaining over 2.8 million views and 16,000 likes in a day (shown below).


Kierra Rush's Response

In response to Cenat's initial video, in which he said that he was going to take Rush to court, Rush posted a video to her Instagram story in which she said she was going to leak "the nudes" and she called Cenat "Diddy jr." concerning the then-ongoing lawsuits against Diddy. A screen recording of the story was posted by X[11] user @3randyn on April 14th, 2024, gaining over 13,000 likes in a day (shown below).


After Cenat's counter-allegations, Rush posted a series of videos and tweets that further attacked Cenat. For instance, she posted a tweet[10] on April 15th, which attached one of the alleged photos of her and Cenat in bed, writing, "Trying to sue me after buying… is wild lol u going to jail too clown…" gaining over 860 likes in less than a day (shown below).

Online Reaction

As the story developed on April 14th, 2024, various internet users reacted to Kierra Rush's claims. For instance, on April 14th, X[7] user @Zazamyodor posted a quote, reading, "Never fall asleep with a bitch u don’t know," gaining over 1,400 likes in a day (shown below, left).

Also on April 14th, X[8] user @MRBLEUFACE reacted to Cenat's initial response, quoting the video and saying, "Idgaf it was 2020 nigga u sent dat bird $5k for sex lol," receiving over 64,000 likes in a day (shown below, right).

After Cenat's slew of videos that he posted to kierrarush.com[5] surfaced on X,[6] his fans started to defend him. For instance, on April 14th, 2024, X[9] user @dyingscribe tweeted, "Imagine getting sued cus you want to lie on somebody's name for advertising," receiving over 250 likes in a day (shown below).
