Overview

Leafy's Pokimane Boyfriend Leak refers to a "Content Nuke" video made by LeafyIsHere against Twitch streamer and internet personality Pokimane. Amidst his various complaints about Pokimane's content, he stated that Pokimane has a boyfriend, and mocked Pokimane subscribers for believing they had a romantic chance with her. The statement caused "#Pokimaneboyfriend" to trend on Twitter that day.

Background

On July 30th, 2020, LeafyIsHere posted a "Content Nuke" video on Pokimane, with the title referencing a similar video h3h3productions made about Keemstar. In Leafy’s video, he criticizes her for doing react content and censoring critics. Additionally, he claims that she is boring and neither funny nor attractive. Towards the end of the video, he addresses Pokimane's "Tier 3" subs (people who support her for $25/month), says Pokimane has a boyfriend, and belittles the subs for spending that much money while assuming they had a romantic chance with her. The video gained over 968,000 views in less than 24 hours (shown below).

Developments

After the video was released, #pokimaneboyfriend[1] began trending on Twitter as some Pokimane fans voiced their feelings of betrayal upon learning she had a boyfriend while others laughed at their frustration. For example, user @MooshiG posted a video of a monkey listening to "I Can't Stop the Loneliness" by Anri characterizing Pokimane fans, gaining over 260 retweets and 2,600 likes (shown below, top). User @ImInsecure4 tweeted what appears to be sincere sadness at the news with an Are Ya Winning, Son meme, gaining over 350 retweets and 3,100 likes (shown below, bottom).

Pokimane[2] responded to the controversy surrounding her romantic life by posting a pic of herself with a cardboard cutout of Barack Obama, writing "it's time to come clean… #pokimaneboyfriend." The tweet gained over 3,000 retweets and 101,000 likes (shown below). Her response was covered by Dexerto.[3]

Honestly, I agree with a lot of his points on the video but he loses me on the argument that she is worse than Alinity just because Pokimane is boring. I'd rather have people follow a boring streamer girl than one that has repeatedly shown herself to be a trash human being
