Overview
Mark Robinson "Black Nazi" minisoldr Scandal refers to a controversy and scandal revolving around internets posts reportedly made by the Republican nominee for governor of North Carolina Mark Robinson under the username @minisoldr on various internet forums, including the adult site "Nude Africa." A September 2024 report by CNN alleges that the politician made several inflammatory statements on the website's message board over a decade ago, referring to himself as a "black NAZI!" and expressing support for reinstating slavery. A Politico report released on the same date also found Robinson's email address listed on Ashley Madison. The controversial nature of this report led to memes, reactions and discourse online in late September 2024.
Background
Early on September 19th, 2024, news about the GOP pressuring their nominee for North Carolina Governor (Mark Robinson, who was lieutenant governor of North Carolina at the time) to step down began making the rounds online.[1]
Around 3 p.m. EST on September 19th, CNN[2] then published a story by Senior Reporter Andrew Kaczynski about a series of inflammatory statements made by @minisoldr, an account the report alleges is Mark Robinson, on an adult website named "Nude Africa."
The decade-old statements uncovered by the CNN report include a comment in which @minisolder claimed, "I'm a black NAZI!" as well as a series of posts in which Robinson supposedly claims to enjoy transgender adult content and calls himself a "perv," despite his recent anti-trans rhetoric.
CNN reportedly linked @minisolder to Mark Robinson through a number of biographical details shared between the account and the politician, as well as a shared email address.
Kaczynski made a post about his report to X[3] / Twitter on September 19th, 2024, gathering over 9,000 likes on the initial post in the thread.
A post about CNN's report by Redditor /u/emitremmus27 on Reddit's /r/NotTheOnion[9] gathered over 20,000 upvotes in a day.
Also on September 19th, Politico's Natalie Allison[7] reported that Mark Robinson's email address was also found on the adult matchmaking site Ashley Madison. A post about the story on Reddit's /r/politics[8] subreddit by Redditor /u/mgwccnv gathered over 3,000 upvotes in a day.

@minisoldr Posts
In addition to the inflammatory statements unearthed by CNN, various internet users also attempted to find ways to link Mark Robinson to the username @minisolder elsewhere online. For example, on September 19th, 2024, X[5] user @kabaivanoff1 quoted a 2018 reply to Mark Robinson's current X (Twitter) account, showing that his old username on Twitter was @minisolder.
Also on September 19th, X[6] user @MikeBeauvais uncovered an Amazon review for a slimming compression shirt posted by @minisoldr.
Other internet users posted more graphic @minisoldr posts on Nude Africa that were left out of CNN's report.
A September 19th, 2024, post by X[10] user @BeshearStan read, "Mark Robinson is legit R Kelly running for governor," gathering over 5,000 likes in a day. X[11] user @nikicaga also posted another @minisoldr Nude Africa post, comparing "Democrat" sex scandals to Republican sex scandals, implying that the former are more tame in nature.
Also on September 19th, Redditor[14] /u/illegaltoilet made a post about more @minisoldr Nude Africa posts to the subreddit /r/NorthCarolina, gathering over 900 upvotes in a day.
Mark Robinson Claims CNN Report Was "AI"
On September 19th, 2024, Mark Robinson denied that he was responsible for the posts made by @minisoldr and that the comments linked to him were generated by "AI" and that he was being "framed." X[4] user @MikeNellis reposted the news clip, gathering over 2,000 likes in a day.

Also on September 19th, Robinson uploaded a video to his YouTube channel Mark Robinson For N.C. addressing what he called "outrageous lies" regarding the scandal, receiving over 2,500 views and 350 comments in 20 hours.
