Overview
The Diddy Sexual Assault, Abuse and Trafficking Lawsuits refers to a series of lawsuits filed against American rapper Sean Combs, known as Puff Daddy, P. Diddy or Diddy. The accusations originally surfaced in November 2023 when R&B singer Cassie Ventura filed her lawsuit. Discourse about Diddy's allegations predominantly surfaced when American hip-hop producer Rodney Jones, aka Lil Rod, filed his lawsuit against Combs, alleging sexual harassment, sexual assault and the trafficking of minors. Reactions and memes surfaced en masse on social media sites like Twitter / X and Reddit, many of which centered on Diddy allegedly having gay sexual relations with Meek Mill and Usher as implied in the court documents released from Lil Rod's lawsuit. In March 2024, Diddy's Los Angeles and Miami homes were raided by U.S. Homeland Security. Diddy was not arrested at either residence and he was purportedly flying to the Caribbean to seemingly avoid authorities. Memes and reactions about the raids surfaced en masse in the following days. In September 2024, Diddy was arrested by federal authorities concerning similar accusations.
Background
Cassie Ventura's Lawsuit
On November 16th, 2023, R&B singer and Combs' former partner Casandra "Cassie" Ventura filed a lawsuit against Combs, alleging that she was trafficked, raped and beaten by Combs on many occasions over 10 years.[8]
Within 48 hours of the lawsuit being filed, Combs and Ventura agreed to a settlement. She told CNN, "I have decided to resolve this matter amicably on terms that I have some level of control. I want to thank my family, fans and lawyers for their unwavering support."[9]
CNN also received a statement from Diddy: "We have decided to resolve this matter amicably. I wish Cassie and her family all the best. Love."[9]
Lil Rod's Lawsuit
On February 26th, 2024, hip-hop producer Rodney "Lil Rod" Jones filed a lawsuit, including a 75-page complaint, against rapper Sean Love Combs (Diddy) that accused him of sexually harassing and threatening him for roughly a year.[1] The lawsuit also accused Diddy and several of his associates of being involved in illicit behavior and alleged sexual assault against others, including minors.[1]
Among many allegations in the 75-page complaint, Jones accused Combs of "unsolicited and unauthorized groping and touching of his anus," grooming him to engage in homosexual intercourse and drugging underage women and sex workers.[1] Also, Combs allegedly has "compromising footage of every person that has attended his freak off parties and his house parties" which he uses as blackmail.[1]
Jones mentioned multiple people in the 75-page complaint who were purportedly part of Diddy's inner circle and either complicit or directly involved in his actions.[1] The list included Diddy’s son Justin Dior Combs, Universal Music Group Chief Executive Lucian Charles Grainge, former Motown Records Chief Executive Ethiopia Habtemariam, Chalice Recording Studios, the record labels and Diddy’s chief of staff Kristina "KK" Khorram. Also, actor Cuba Gooding Jr. was listed as one of Jones' assaulters.[1]
In a conversation with the LA Times,[1] Jones and his attorney compared Combs and Khorram to Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell.
