Overview

Rad_milk's Death refers to the death of Twitter poster and comedian @rad_milk, aka Everett Bryam, who was shot by police officers on February 10th, 2023, when they responded to a domestic violence call and found Bryam wielding a knife. The news divided many Twitter posters as it spread online, some of whom expressed grief while others took to mocking him after his death based on unsubstantiated rumors that he was threatening to kill his wife at the time of the incident, which caused officers to open fire, though this is unconfirmed.

History

On February 10th, 2023, police responded to a domestic violence call in Palmade, California and reportedly shot Everett Bryam, aka Twitter poster, content creator and comedian @Rad_milk. Reports say they did so after Bryam "moved toward them with an edged weapon."[1] A GoFundMe[2] for his family launched on February 14th.[8] The same day, Twitter user @pasql[3] tweeted a link to the GoFundMe, gaining over 50 retweets and 320 quote tweets in less than 24 hours (shown below).

Pasquale D'Silva @pasql My friend Everett (@rad_milk) passed away. He was a creative inspiration & insanely kind friend. He helped me through so much. I'm absolutely devastated. He was family. Please consider donating to the fund to help his wife & children: : Dodgers

Developments

The news of Bryam's death divided Twitter users as word spread online. While some expressed grief, others were not charitable in their response to the news. While the circumstances surrounding Bryam's death are currently unclear, a narrative emerged among some users that Bryam was allegedly attempting to stab his wife when the police responded to the incident, though others claim he was threatening himself. Others also stated he was a domestic abuser, though that has also been disputed and there is no hard evidence backing up the claim at the time of writing.[7]

For example, on February 14th, 2023, Twitter user @Grimvvice[4] tweeted a narrative saying he was allegedly attempting to kill his wife, gaining over 1,000 retweets and 13,000 likes in one day (shown below, top). Also that day, user @On_da_spectrum[5] quipped that Bryam died "A true poster's death," gaining over 80 retweets and 1,400 likes in one day (shown below, bottom).

my life is a living hell. every minute is torture @on_da_spectrum ... say what you want about Rad Milk, but he definitely died a True Poster's Death: spending the last decade of your life slowly getting less funny and more mentally ill before getting put down like a rabid dog by the cops for attempting to kill a woman with a small sword 1:17 AM. Additionally, users unearthed a trove of earlier tweets from @rad_milk on the topic of getting shot by police. In particular, a September 23rd, 2015, tweet[6] about him being white and not getting shot by cops was widely reposted in the wake of the news (shown below, left).
