Sam Hyde "The Candyman" refers to Sam Hyde's boxing alter-ego "The Candyman," an Irishman with an accent that's a part of Happy Punch Promotions. In late August 2022, Hyde fought TikTok and Instagram influencer IAMTHMPSN on DAZN and won. After the fight, Hyde called out Hasan Piker by humorously threatening him with a death threat, saying he was going to kill him, stalk him and wear his skin. Memes and discussions flooded Twitter on the day of the influencer boxing event, which garnered significant attention online.
History
Origin
On May 5th, 2022, Sam Hyde was interviewed by Mirror Fighting in which "The Candyman" made his official debut. In character, Hyde spoke about how Happy Punch Promotions manager and YouTuber Keemstar found him fighting on the streets of Boston. The interview was uploaded by the YouTube channel All Out Fighting on May 5th, earning roughly 216,700 views in three months (shown below).
Developments
On June 29th, 2022, the Twitter[1] account of Happy Punch Promotions tweeted a graphic of Hyde as the Candyman, writing in the caption, "The Candyman can 👊," and labeled Hyde as a co-owner of the company. The tweet received roughly 9,400 likes in two months (shown below).
On July 25th, 2022, the YouTube channel of Hyde Wars posted a video titled, "Candyman Story 1: Candyman fight promo/ Overcoming years of abuse and all odds to Become World Chmp." In one month, the video received roughly 107,000 views (shown below).
Sam Hyde "The Candyman" vs. IAMTHMPSN
On August 24th, 2022, Hyde and THMPSN first met in anticipation of their boxing match. The moment that the two met at the event was captured by the Twitter[2] account IntuBoxing, earning roughly 6,100 views in three days (shown below).

Hyde was also interviewed by the YouTube channel Fred Talks Fighting on August 24th, 2022, earning roughly 46,500 views in three days (shown below, left). On August 25th, the YouTube channel NeatoBurrito Productions uploaded a video that showed YouTuber KSI's "UK Boxing Media" press conference in which Hyde was in character as "The Candyman," wearing an Irish flag around his neck and a green mask. Over the course of two days, the video received roughly 98,900 views (shown below, right).
On August 26th, 2022, Keemstar tweeted[3] a photo of Hyde at the KSI press conference wearing the Irish flag and green mask, stating, "Sam Hyde is the greatest thing to Happen to Influencer Boxing since KSI vs Logan Paul! The Candy man understands this is the entertainment biz!!!" The tweet received roughly 5,500 likes in one day.
Also on August 26th, 2022, Twitter[4] user JustSoTippy tweeted a video of Hyde as "The Candyman" and IAMTHMPSN doing a ceremonial promo. The video received roughly 14,100 likes and 270,00 views in one day (shown below).

On August 27th, 2022, Hyde and THMPSN faced off in the arena in LA live on DAZN. In the end, Hyde won the match, winning in a third-round TKO. This was originally tweeted by the Twitter[5] account of IntuBoxing, earning over 630 likes in one hour. Also on August 27th, 2022, the Twitter[6] account of DAZN posted a video of Hyde's post-fight interview in the ring in which he humorously issued a death threat to Hasan Piker. The video received roughly 5,500 likes and 387,500 views in two hours (shown below).

Other reactions surfaced about Hyde's victory as "The Candyman," as well as about his threat to Piker. Many Twitter users reposted clips of Hyde punching IAMTHMPSN, as well as the clip of Hyde's post-victory interview, however, many of these tweets were deleted or censored due to copyright issues. For instance, on August 27th, 2022, Twitter[7] user BaseStates tweeted a video of Hyde punching IAMTHMPSN, captioning it, "Sam Hyde hits like a TRUCK lmao," and earning roughly 11,700 likes in two days.
