Freedom 250 USA, also known as the White House UFC Event, was a UFC competition held in front of the White House in Washington, D.C., on June 14th, 2026, in celebration of the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence and U.S. President Donald Trump's 80th birthday.

The event was first planned and announced by Trump and UFC President Dana White between July and August 2025, with a seating capacity of 4,300. Approximately 1,200 seats were saved for active military members. Purportedly, no taxpayer funds were used in setting up and running the event.

Freedom 250 inspired some backlash, including concerns that holding a UFC event at the White House was inappropriate and perceived as "trashy" by many. Others defended the event and pointed out events held by other presidents at the White House that they believed were worse. The UFC event also spawned numerous memes referencing it, including many comparisons to the 2006 comedy film Idiocracy.

In July 2025, U.S. President Donald Trump announced plans to host a UFC event at the White House in celebration of the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.^[1] Trump is known to attend UFC events and is friends with the UFC's president, Dana White. That August, White confirmed that the event was happening.^[2]

Freedom 250 took place on June 14th, 2026. The main fight was between Ilia Topuria vs. Justin Gaethje, with Gaethje taking the win.^[3]

Reportedly, the event cost no taxpayer money and was paid for by the UFC. A 4,300-seat stadium was erected on the White House lawn to host the event, with 1,200 of those seats going to active military service members.^[4][5]

Michelle Obama Is a Man Moment

On the night of the event on June 14th, 2026, UFC fighter Josh Hokit made a reference to the Michelle Obama Is a Man transvestigation conspiracy theory, garnering significant press coverage and backlash from many.

That night, X^[9] / Twitter user @Timodc posted a clip of the incident from the event, receiving over 10.5 million views, 41,000 likes and 4,200 replies in 14 hours.

The tweet was also reposted to the subreddit /r/idiocracy^[10] on June 15th, garnering over 3,600 upvotes and 250 comments in three hours.

The following morning, on June 15th, 2026, UFC President Dana White condemned Hokit's comment,^[11] saying:

I understand that the Obamas are public figures but I’m completely against saying nasty and false things about people’s families. Everyone knows my position on free speech but I hate that kind of nonsense.

Online Reactions

Reactions to the Freedom 250 USA event were mixed online, with some mocking or denouncing it and others praising and defending it as it took place in mid-June 2026.
