Female Hype Squad TikTok Duets refers to a series of TikTok duet featuring a video of a group of women in black bikinis acting as if they are listening to someone off-screen and then reacting enthusiastically.

Origin

On March 27th, 2021, TikToker @teresa_jack posted a video of several women wearing bikinis at the beach acting to the camera as if they are listening to someone speak and then reacting with enthusiastic applause and cheers. They described the video, "Duet this 😂 POV: a diverse group of women hypes you up." The post received more than 3.6 million views, 584,000 views and 9,200 comments in less than two weeks (shown below).

Within days, people began making duets with the video, creating videos that appear as though the women are reacting to mundane or absurd things. On March 30th, 2021, Twitter user @ericsapp tweeted a version in which a man shows off vintage and rare video game items. The Tweet received more than 1.6 million views, 130,000 likes and 20,000 retweets in less than two weeks (shown below).

On March 31st, 2021, rapper Lil Nas X published a duet with the video. The post received more than 6 million views, 554,000 likes and 8,700 comments in less than two weeks (shown below, left). The following day, TikToker @jocelyn.nievesss posted a duet that received more than 3 million views, 652,000 likes and 8,300 comments in less than two weeks (shown below, right).

As of April 7th, the "Female Hype Squad" sound has more than 27,000 videos on TikTok.^[1]
