First Date Idea refers to a photo of a couple fighting each other in the park with the girl preparing to hit a man, captioned "First Date Idea." The photo grew popular on Twitter / X in June of 2024 as redraw material. The redraws often depict two shipped characters from pop culture who are canonically rivals.

Origin

On June 16th, 2024, Twitter / X^[1] user @gumpai_ uploaded a photo of a couple fighting in a park with a sign demonstrating the pose behind them. The image is captioned "First Date Idea." The post received more than 7,500 reposts and 82,900 likes in one week (shown below).

Spread

Days later, the photo grew popular among artists on Twitter / X as a reference for redrawn fan art memes. For example on June 18th, 2024, Twitter / X^[2] user @m4ttyume uploaded Chainsaw Man fan art based on the photo. The post received more than 1,100 reposts and 11,100 likes in four days (shown below, left). On the next day, Twitter / X^[3] user @Heartbreak_Juan uploaded Gurren Lagann fan art that received more than 3,500 reposts and 35,000 likes in three days (shown below, right).

On June 20th, 2024, Twitter / X^[4] user @tiredhomeboi uploaded Hunter X Hunter fan art which received more than 1,200 reposts and 6,500 likes in two days (shown below, left). On the same day, Twitter / X^[5] user @anyach_pp uploaded Genshin Impact fan art that received more than 600 reposts and 6,200 likes in two days (shown below, right).
