Food Jutsu or the Food Summon Trend, sometimes known as the Jujutsu Kaisen Food Trend, is a short-form video transition trend and internet challenge in which participants perform jutsu hand signs, similar to the ones performed in anime series like Jujutsu Kaisen and Naruto, and splice in clips of them holding food after performing the hand signs, as if they've summoned the food into their hands or on their table.

The trend is often set to the song "Feel like 2016" by LAZER DIM 700 and started slowly spreading online in March 2026 on TikTok and Instagram Reels. It is often used as a way to advertise restaurants and became more commonly used at restaurants and during casual meals throughout June 2026.

Origin

In numerous anime series, including Naruto and Jujutsu Kaisen, characters often do certain hand symbols, known as "jutsu," to perform special abilities.

On March 5th, 2026, TikToker^[1] @1luhmykel posted a video in which he does several jutsu hand signs for a "food summoning jutsu," then cuts to footage of food on the table in front of him, as if the jutsu summoned the food, garnering over 681,000 views in three months. This is the earliest known instance of the trend.

Spread

The food-summoning jutsu trend spread over the following months on TikTok and Instagram Reels, becoming popularized online in late May through June 2026.

On March 17th, 2026, TikToker^[2] @shamelck posted a video doing the trend that gained over 338,000 views in three months.

On May 24th, Instagram^[3] user dear_terryberry posted a video doing the trend at a wedding, gaining over 13.5 million views in a month.

On June 2nd, 2026, Instagram^[4] user nedevins posted a video doing the trend that gained over 2.2 million views in a month.
