About

Hasbulla Magomedov, also known as Mini Khabib for his resemblance to MMA fighter Kabib Nurmagomedov, is an 18-year-old Russian blogger with an unknown genetic disorder that makes him look like a five-year-old boy. He began posting comedic content on Instagram in November 2020, and gained a significant fanbase over the next six months after a number of clips from his Instagram went viral on TikTok. Hasbulla has over 460,000 followers on Instagram as of July 2021. Hasbulla's fighting career is managed by Askhab Tamaev.

History

Hasbulla was born on an unknown date in 2003 in Dagestan, Russia. Hasbulla allegedly suffers from growth hormone deficiency, or GHD, which he has had since birth.[5] This stopped Hasbulla from growing at a reported height of 3' 4". Hasbulla began posting on Instagram[1] in November 2020 under the account @Hasbulla. He gained a significant number of fans through TikTok starting around April 2021 as users began to repost clips of him and use them in various memes (examples shown below, left and right).

Some of Hasbulla's most popular content sees him impersonating MMA fighter Kabib Nurmagomedov, who some people believe he is related to (shown below). This led many to call Hasbulla "Mini Kabib." Hasbulla has notably leaned into fighting-themed content, often seen shadowboxing, fighting and training.

In April, footage of Nurmagomedov and Hasbulla having dinner and taking photos together began to circulate (shown below). The two became friends, and Hasbulla was soon inspired to train to become an MMA fighter.

Hasbulla vs. Abdu Rozik

On May 15th, Hasbulla posted an image of himself squaring up against Rozik to Instagram,[2] announcing that they would be fighting (shown below). Over the next few days, Hasbulla, Rozik and Russian MMA fighter Asxab Tamaev, who is Hasbulla's fight manager and the officiant to the fight, promoted it, garnering viral interest.

On May 17th, Tamaev posted a 37-minute long pre-fight press conference between the two in which they argue and physically fight a number of times to YouTube,[3] garnering over 11 million views in 10 days (shown below).

The fight has yet to take place, although it was rumored to have happened already.[4] Tamaev posted a number of videos advertising it in June (example shown below). No official date has been set.

Hasbulla vs. Tain

On June 18th, 2021, Асхаб Тамаев posted a video to YouTube interviewing another dwarf fighter named Tain, allegedly touting him as Hasbulla's next fight (shown below).[6]

Endorsement of Jair Bolsonaro

On October 1st, 2022, Hasbulla posted a tweet (seen below) expressing support for Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro and his reelection campaign. The tweet[8] received almost 76,000 likes in the course of a day, spurning contention and discourse online, namely for Bolsonaro's various controversies. Bolsonaro (the President of Brazil since 2019), is a hard-right leader who has questioned the integrity of the October 2nd, 2022, election and suggested he would not leave office if defeated. Bolsonaro has also been widely criticized for his role in deforesting the Amazon and attacking democratic institutions in Brazil.[9]

Bolsonaro replied to Hasbulla's tweet shortly after, thanking him for his support and inviting him to Brazil. Hasbullah and Bolsonaro also had a brief exchange in the replies that same day (seen below).[10]

A number of posters then criticized Hasbulla for his support of Bolsonaro, such as Twitter user @doubledoink, who received over 3,700 likes for imagining the death of Hasbulla at the talons of vultures belonging to prominent Bolsonaro critic Glenn Greenwald (seen below, left)[11] and @gayest_tone (seen below, right) who received nearly 200 likes for calling Hasbulla a "right-wing Islamic scholar," both on October 2nd, 2022.[12]

Others criticized themselves for their investment in the very-online scandal, posting about how deeply online the entire situation seemed, such as Twitter user @ctol_ who posted on the topic on October 2nd, receiving 15 likes in less than 24 hours.[13]
