About
"He's Going Over That Cliff!" is an exploitable scene from the 1967 anime Speed Racer. The scene has resulted in several fan recreations and redraws.
Origin
The scene comes from the 50th episode of Speed Racer titled "The Trick Race", which aired on March 8th, 1968, in the United States.[1] In the episode, Speed races against the car acrobatic team in a series of tight turns around a mountain range. During one of the turns, Speed's car hangs dangerously over the edge of the road. Kobra Oiler, who's ahead of Speed, looks back and says "He's going over that cliff!". To Kobra's misfortune, however, the distraction led to him taking his eyes off the road and causing his own car to roll off the cliff and into the icy waters below.

On May 23rd, 2017, YouTube user MikeFancyDrink[2] posted a Source Filmmaker video that recreates the scene using Scout and Soldier from Team Fortress 2. The video (shown below, left) received over 67,000 views in over seven years. On August 31st, 2020, YouTube user Neal[3] posted a Source Filmmaker video which recreates the scene using Gordon Freeman and G-Man from Half Life 2. The video (shown below, right) received over 39,000 views in four years.
On April 30th, 2021, YouTube account Best of Ironmouse[4] posted a clip from an Ironmouse Twitch stream in which she watches the scene and bursts into laughter shortly afterwards. The video (shown below, left) received over 35,000 views in over three years. On September 21st, 2021, YouTube user Cain Casey[5] posted a reanimation of the scene with his own original audio. The video (shown below, right) received over 23,000 views in over two years.
On September 19th, 2022, YouTube user spunklord5000[6] posted a Source Filmmaker video which recreates the scene with V2 and V1 from Ultrakill. The video (shown below, left) received over 74,000 views in over one year. On September 11th, 2023, YouTube user WarioWill[7] posted the original scene, but with the audio replaced with part of a Vinesauce stream of Vinny playing Marble It Up!. The video (shown below, right) received over 61,000 views in nearly one year.
