About
Hotel Transylvania is a multi-media franchise consisting of movies, TV shows, and video games. The first three entries in the series have Genndy Tartakovsky as their director, who's previous works include Samurai Jack and Dexter's Laboratory, as well as starring Adam Sandler as Count Dracula. The premise of the movies revolves around Dracula, who runs a hotel for monsters, and his daughter Mavis, who marries a human and starts to change Dracula's worldview.
History
On September 28, 2012, Hotel Transylvania was released in theaters in the United States. In the film, Dracula builds a resort in Transylvania, hidden from the humans, to raise his beloved daughter Mavis in a safe environment. In the present, the place is the Hotel Transylvania, where monsters bring their families to vacation far from the frightening humans. Dracula invites his friends – Frankenstein and his wife Eunice; Wayne and Wanda, werewolves; Griffin, the invisible man; Murray, the mummy; Bigfoot, and several others – to celebrate the 118th birthday of Mavis. When the party is ready to start, the 21-year-old Jonathan is walking through the forest and stumbles upon the hotel. Dracula sees Jonathan and disguises him as a monster to hide Jonathan from the guests. However, Mavis also sees Jonathan and Dracula forces him to pose as a monster. Mavis later believes that Jonathan is the "zing" of her life despite the advice of her father about humans. Dracula asks Johnny to travel with Mavis to the house of his parents in California and convinces her to stay at the hotel. Meanwhile Dracula joins his friends Frank, Wayne, Griffin, Murray and Blobby the Blob and they travel with Dennis to a vampire camp to teach the boy to turn into a vampire so that Mavis and Johnny stay at the hotel. However, due to the dangerous environment, the worried new mom suggests that Dennis would be safer in Johnny's hometown of California, as Drac believes his grandson may never develop vampire powers by his fifth birthday. And to make things far worse, an impromptus visit from Dracula's very, very old human-hating father, Vlad causes things to get a little "out of claw".
