Huh. I Wonder Who That's For refers to an image of Garfield looking at a sign forbidding him from entering a store, captioned, "Huh. I wonder who that's for," a phrase that is not actually used in the source episode. The image comes from a 1988 episode of Garfield and Friends and was first used as an image macro in 2019, becoming the subject of further memes and redraws over the following years.

Origin

On November 12th, 1988, season one episode nine of Garfield and Friends aired on television. In the third segment, around the 19:50 mark, Odie asks Garfield what several signs mean on a store window, including a "no smoking" sign, "no ice cream" sign and, finally, a "no Garfield" sign. Garfield originally says about the third sign, "this one means… hmm" (shown below).[1]

On February 27th, 2019, Redditor Kirk880 posted a meme to /r/MemeEconomy[2] using a screenshot from the episode where Garfield is captioned, "Huh. I wonder who that's for," gaining over 23,000 upvotes in three years (shown below).

The meme inspired further image macros and redraws over the following years. On September 24th, 2019, Tumblr[3] user lightofthedeep posted a redraw of the meme replacing Garfield with Inosuke from Demon Slayer, gaining over 570 notes in three years (shown below).

On September 23rd, Redditor PokemonGod777 posted a version of the meme to /r/untitledgoosegame[4] replacing Garfield with the Goose from Untitled Goose Game, gaining over 499 upvotes in three years (shown below, left). Two days later, iFunny[5] user Welcome_to_thotville posted another version of the meme using the goose (shown below, right). On September 29th, Instagram[6] user daddy_issues_and_memes posted a meme using the latter template, gaining over 700 likes.

On May 1st, 2020, Twitter[7] user @frugalhats posted a version of the meme using an Animal Crossing screenshot, gaining over 100 likes in two years (shown below, left). On May 11th, Twitter[11] user @NitroRad posted a similar meme, gaining over 26,000 likes and 4,400 retweets in the same rough span of time (shown below, right).

On May 12th, iFunny[8] user Sharpfart posted a meme using the Garfield image to react to a Funyuns brand post using the Silence Brand meme, gaining over 44,400 smiles in two years (shown below, left). On May 23rd, Twitter[9] user @PepperTroopa posted a redraw of the meme referencing Donkey Kong Country, gaining over 2,500 likes and 620 retweets in a similar span of time (shown below, right).
