I Need You To Distract Kang is a copypasta and catchphrase that was popularized in early 2023. Several X users shared fake edited "leaks" from the upcoming MCU film Avengers: Secret Wars, with one image showing Tony Stark (Iron Man) asking Wolverine (Logan Howlett) to "distract Kang," saying, "Logan, I need you to distract Kang." The phrase came to be used to mock subsequent fake leaks, with some internet users photoshopping different characters into fake Avengers leaks.

Origin

On January 11th, 2023, X^[1] user @CovenofChaoss posted the earliest known Avengers: Secret Wars "leak," an edited image made to appear as though Tony Stark is speaking to the Wolverine and saying, "Logan, I need you to distract Kang." @CovenofChaoss captioned the image, "This movie is like 3.5 years away please stop it 😭," gathering over 16,000 likes in a year (seen below).

X^[2] user @HailEternal posted another fake Avengers leak on February 4th, 2023, gathering nearly 3,000 likes in a year. On February 10th, X^[3] user @shashwatmolina posted another fake leak, this time showing Antman asking "Supes" or Superman to distract Logan. The post gathered over 3,000 likes in a year (seen below).

A March 2nd, 2023, post by X^[4] user @Fantastic4Shill shows another edited "leak," showing John Krasinski as Reed Richards being asked an inappropriate question by Tony Stark. The post gathered over 5,000 likes in 10 months (seen below, left). On March 5th, a fan posted an edited "leak" on the X^[5] account @Marvfess, inserting himself into a possible Avengers scene, gathering over 1,000 likes in 10 months (seen below, right).

On April 12th, X^[6] user @indianloonie posted a version of the meme that featured Brendan Fraser from the 2023 film The Whale. The post gathered over 600 likes in 10 months.
