Marvel Viewing Order refers to an infographic which guides viewers through Marvel Cinematic Universe films in their chronological order. Online, the infographic has been parodied, usually with films not belonging to MCU replacing some of the installations.
Origin
On March 25th, 2019, Australian radio host Kent "Smallzy" Small posted an infographic guiding viewers through 22 film installments of Marvel Cinematic Universe in the order of their in-universe chronology (shown below).[1] The tweet gained over 70 retweets and 240 likes in two months.
Spread
In the following month, the image was reposted multiple times, including March 26th post to /r/Marvel subreddit which gained over 2,100 upvotes[2] and March 27th post on 9GAG which received over 12,500 points.[3]
On March 27th, Redditor nondiary_kramer posted the first known parody of the infographic to /r/Cumtown subreddit, where it gained 220 upvotes in two months.[4] On April 26th, 2019, Twitter user @lunchbot1 another parody of the infographic, with the tweet gaining over 70 retweets and 160 likes in one month (shown below).[5] On April 27th and 28th, the parody was reposted to /r/marvelmemes and /r/me_irl subreddit, where it gained over 1,600 and 1,900 upvotes in one month, respectively.[6]
In the following weeks, more parodies of the infographic appeared online on Twitter, Reddit and other websites, with films such as Shrek and The Room often included in the list.
