I Shoulda Never Smoke That Shit, continued Now I'm At Spongebob House, is the caption attached to an image of rapper Big Ratchet sitting on SpongeBob's bed in a recreation of SpongeBob SquarePants' bedroom. The tweet was posted in late May and became the subject of photoshops later that month imagining Ratchet in various scenarios where his likeness was used as an exploitable format.
Origin
On May 24th, 2021, Benjamin Deshawn Hoard, aka Big Ratchet, posted a photo to Twitter[1] sitting in a realistic-looking lifesize replica of SpongeBob's bedroom, captioned, "I Shoulda Never Smoke That Shit Now Im At Spongebob House" (shown below). The post gained over 5,400 likes and 1,700 retweets in a month.
A screenshot of the post was reshared a number of times across social media, notably by Instagram[2] user @scoobydoofruitsnacks on May 25th, garnering over 86,000 likes in a month.
Spread
On May 28th, 2021, Instagram[3] meme page @boomer.jim posted a photoshop of the meme putting Ratchet into horror game Granny's House, garnering over 32,000 likes in a month (shown below). This is one of the earliest photoshops of the image.
The image inspired a number of new photoshops over the course of May on Instagram, with the trend seeing a large increase in popularity in mid-June 2021. For example, on June 15th, Instagram[4] page @sonny5ideup posted a photoshop of Ratchet at Nirvana's MTV Unplugged concert, garnering over 63,000 likes in a week (shown below, left). On June 21st, Twitter[5] user @skuhwid posted a new photoshop placing Ratchet in the 1975 film Jeanne Dielman, 23, Quai Du Commerce, 1080 Bruxelles, garnering over 4,300 likes in two days (shown below, right).
