About

If You Want A Burger, Eat A Burger, continued Bitch, If You Want A French Fry, Eat A French Fry, refers to a viral Vine video of a parody rap freestyle in which the rapper urges the listener to eat a burger and fries if they want to. Years after the original Vine was posted in 2014 by YUNG POPPY, the audio went viral as a TikTok sound in 2022, used by creators that lip dubbed it or made reanimations using video game graphics or original characters.

Origin

On February 5th, 2014, Viner[1] YUNG POPPY, formerly known as BrianLamont_, posted a video titled, "Kiana Telling Her Friend Stop Being Like These #SkinnyBitches & Enjoy That Happy Meal," in which he was playing two female characters on a phone call while doing a mock freestyle about eating burgers and fries. Over the course of nine years, the Vine received roughly 298,700 loops and 24,100 likes (shown below).

Spread

In 2014, the Vine received remixes on the app. For instance, on June 21st, 2014, Viner[2] Lauren Elizabeth posted an iteration in which the lyrics were about being tagged on Twitter, earning roughly 1 million loops and 11,700 likes in nine years (shown below, left). In June 2015, YUNG POPPY reposted the Vine[3] and received even more engagement, earning roughly 2.7 million loops and 76,400 likes in eight years. Also, he uploaded a new rendition of the Vine[4] on June 26th, 2015, gaining roughly 1 million loops and 26,500 likes in eight years (shown below, right).

Usage on TikTok

On February 23rd, 2021, the TikTok[5] account vines.hd posted YUNG POPPY's original Vine, gaining roughly 1.8 million plays and 178,100 likes in two years. However, other TikTokers didn't start using vines.hd's sound[6] for their own videos until December 2022. One of the first creators to use the sound in late 2022 was TikToker[7] glttrlvr69 on December 5th, 2022, who simply recorded their friend lip dubbing the sound, earning roughly 54,100 plays and 9,500 likes in one month (shown below, left). On December 12th, TikToker[8] jokers.toe.nails used a Persona 5 character to show eating the food, gaining roughly 2.5 million plays and 231,700 likes in one month (shown below, right).
