The video, wherein a father-son duo from the U.K. perform a song consisting of alternating sections, repeating the lyrics "I'm your son" and "and I'm your dad," respectively.

The audio from the video sparked a viral trend in which TikTok users recreate the video with their own sons or dads, as well as using fictional characters and other public figures. Accuracy Reenactments and remixes of the song also appeared online in April 2026.

Origin

The original video was posted to Facebook by MC Simpson,^[1] an MC from Darlington, North East England, on August 12th, 2024, with the caption, "Dad b2b Son." The post has received 3.2 million views and 10,000 likes as of April 2026.

The boy and his father, later identified as MC SP80 and MC Speedy, respectively, became fixtures in the Newcastle Makina music scene as the video garnered attention in the mid-2020s.

On March 21st, 2025, TikTok^[2] user @adclarko posted an interview with the father-son duo where they discussed the song, though the post did not receive significant engagement on the platform, garnering around 420 likes in a year.

The pair were also seen performing the song in Newcastle, as seen in a TikTok^[3] video posted on June 15th, 2025, by user @krkpatrick, which received over 459,500 views and 30,900 likes in 10 months.

Though the video had gone viral in the U.K. in 2025, it would begin to spread to other parts of the world in April 2026, achieving wider virality and spawning memes and remixes.

On April 1st, 2026, TikTok^[5] user @donnermcgregorofficial posted the clip with isolated vocals. The video received over 5.9 million views and 762,500 likes in less than two weeks.

On April 2nd, 2026, TikTok^[5] user @barry.smithh reuploaded the video to TikTok, which received over 1 million views and 58,700 likes in less than two weeks.

On April 5th, 2026. TikTok^[6] user @heinz_baines posted a video recreating the original with his own dad. The video received over 1.6 million views and 175,600 likes in less than one week.

On April 6th, 2026, TikTok^[7] user @olafaru recreated the video with a smaller version of himself, which received over 1 million views and 157,400 likes in about one week.

On April 11th, 2026, the official Tesco TikTok^[8] account posted a video using the original audio and remixing it, which received over 890,300 views and 104,500 likes in just three days.
